Default Screenies of the new items?

As the title says. Would like to get an idea of what the 12 other items look like so that there Is still time to tweak them.

Op is referring to the NEW items that Melange designed in response to the general outcry of the forums stating that the new loot isn't very good.

I am very curious to see what these are.

Yea, I am rather pleased with +Mel's work on the whole.

If memory serves, think this is his/her first time designing loot. While some of it may not be the awesomesauce we all wanted, I think the job was well done. A good start for what I hope to be a long history of some good loot creation.

We just need some patience and allow +Mel to get into the creation groove.

That sounds nice, but everyone have to buy this content.

You might be fine, I might be - whatever - and a scant few might think - oh well.

But fail in this formula and very few will pre-order the next expansion pack. And that's bad new for a company that depends on micro transactions.

This is just not a matter of 'getting into the groove'. This is a matter of making sure this content is worthy of an expansion pack - because I will tell you right now. I've been willing to spend lots of money, partly because I'm VIP but i still need to shell out money on things like this.

But next one? It'll depend what they do with the next packs going forward. Because if this is the model then I will just wait until these are in the bargain bin, even if I miss the extras. It's just not worth it right now.

I don't pay to play this game to have someone "intern" in a new field of design.

I think you have been since you started playing.

Honestly, think about it. Every DEV needs to start someplace. Do you think FlimsyFirewood started creating some of the best Quests in DDO right off the bat? No. DeadlyGazeebo. No.

All I am saying is give the man a break to learn what you and I want.

That may be true, but I really hope there's some sort of experienced "mentor" to help show them the ropes. And to say, hey that works and that probably won't work and here's why. That's how people learn. Funny thing is, is doesn't seem to me that there was anyone guiding Melange (as we got a bunch of the same stuff we weren't happy with the first go 'round). Which isn't his/her fault per se, it's a sign of a large fault in the system.

Prove that. Prove that you "HAVE" to buy it. You can't. There is no requirement to run these quests, ever.

So don't buy it for the loot. If you already bought it before the loot was posted, obviously "sucker."

Much like MOTU, I did not buy this expansion for the quest content. I bought what I did for the pre release items. Heck of a lot cheeper to do that for my number of characters than piece meal.

There probably was, and if they go by who did it last, that person was Feather as the other person who would have a clue was more than likely utterly busy to preform a mentor job. I've been going through that myself at work and let me say it is pita. Esp as some of the parts are brand new, no one has messed with it before. blarg. Feel like I've been a guinea pig since I left college, at least for a few months every year for the last 6 years.

The turn about of that is this, however, If you aren't getting challenged, you aren't learning a thing so you can't grow and be better than you were.

I bought it early because in part a little of everything. Some pre-order stuff were nice and I thought that it would be similar in size to MotU content wise. I'm not sure if expecting it to be roughly the same size content wise as the previous expansion makes me a sucker - I'm sure some will say yes and some will say no, but I learned my lesson.

And this may be true as well. And I am sure it sucks. But it's not a really valid excuse. It may be an explanation, but everyone at some time is in the weeds and against a deadline and we are all expected to preform. It just the way it goes. If I didn't perform at work, I heard about it and clients complained. It's reality. To expect a free pass...I never got one. And it made me better.

Exactly. You are not perfect, no one is.

So instead of saying somethign "sucks" and get squelched by the developer directly forever (and I'm saying this generically, not just at you) explain constructively how it could be done better next time. It is too late for this run.

edit: Heck for all we know with some of this, the dev's code could have gotten mangled. We've seen how their management system stinks to high heaven as they keep breaking stuff they fix.

Again - this is an expansion pack. There was no previous to Motu. It feels like they really never had a good plan for this expansion. After all - they felt they had to add 12 more items. Now compare that to Motu. Or even gianthold with the addition of augments.

Wait a minute, you don't have to buy the expansion in order to play it?

But in all reality we don't know which Dev is scheduled to do loot for each Update. We can explain how we like things and some people have been very specific here regarding their opinions. But in 6 months when U20 or later update go into a development; who 's to say Melange or Feather or anyone will be there. It's a vicious cycle. I don't have an numbers but it seems that turn over or people moving around happen very frequently at Turbine. I highly doubt anyone new to loot development will look up these threads 8 months from now. And if they try, good luck finding them on these forums.

And for me, if they don't take the most general and common advice (named items should not have random effect, or if they do, a very limited and select range) I'm not convinced they will take any specific/narrow advice.

But that my view and I am keenly aware that I am the minority here.

    Are you that naive?

We've CONSTRUCTIVELY suggested to get away with this Randomness **** FROM THE FIRST DAY OF CLOSED BETA.

THIS is my post. It's full of evidences and witnesses that Random effects on Named Items has always and will always suck. I've proved this with 2 excellent examples: ES Challenges and CitW Twilight random element.

We've also said that we DO like Random effects IF AND ONLY IF they are on A FEW SELECTED ITEMS among the whole pack. And these few selected items should have had A REALLY SMALL NUMBER OF EFFECTS with the examples of Gianthold Helms and Goggles.

Oh and look at the date of when that post was done: 7-13-2013. ONE MONTH AGO.

Our CONSTRUCTIVELY suggestions have been IGNORED for a whole month. So no, when I see after a month that our suggestions how to improve the loot, I will plain and simple state HOW MUCH THEY SUCK. FULL POINT.

And also, I don't like when we are being fooled. Melange stated and I quote from post #26:

I don't consider every single skill +20 on every item A SMALL NUMBER RELATED mutations.

So, again, the loot sucks. End of the story.

Just to let you know, telling people it sucks and we deserve an apology is not constructive critique, it's whining, plain and simple

I also hate everyone shouting "i said this, and they didn't do it! It's proof that they don't read the threads, because obviously I know what's best for this game, and speak for the majority of the player base, despite the fact that most of the players don't even use the forums."

And which gear has all +20 skills? I'll admit i haven't seen much of the gear except in the forums, but i don't remember seeing any that had all the skills as a possibility, i believe there was one with spellcraft as an option though, which is pretty much free spellpower, so not really complaining.
