Default Please Do Not Require Enhancement "Trees" to be 'Unlocked'

Please, please, please, please, please - change the requirement to 'purchase' the "Core Enhancement 1" in order to unlock the respective enhancement "tree". At the very least for the racial "trees". Perhaps this is the mechanism that is planned to use to "lock-in" the (up to 6) class enhancement "trees"? Even so, there should at least be an exception for the racial "trees". Either that or make the racial 'core enhacnement 1' to be 0AP, as it was in 'alpha'. The core enhancements (even the very first one) should be optional - not mandatory. If the first one were to cost 0 AP, then at least that allows unlocking a "tree" without having to "waste" a limited supply of AP. Especially if it is to be "wasted" on something that is not even wanted (the worst kind of wasting).

Also - please, please, please, please, please do not have "AP spent in tree" requirements for the racial "trees" (I would actually prefer not to see it at all, but guessing that ship has already sailed). Allow all AP spent in class "trees" to count for AP spent in racial "tree".

Otherwise, as things currently are, I am disinclined to ever - EVER - use the human racial "tree" (and seeing as how my toons are nearly exclusively human, that would be "bad"), as the costs to get even the nice, 2nd tier "fighting style" enhancement is just too cost prohibitive.

    Please?

I'm with you. And on that second point. If the devs are adamant about having some things be tied to points spent in tree, fine. But I feel like everything that isn't unique to the PRE should be points spent total, not in tree. Things like Sneak Attack Training should be available to all Rogues without needing to buy a bunch of Assassin Enhancements. And Racial Trees should be points spent total. I remember being told that this system was going to get rid of the complicated gating of the old system. I suppose they did get rid of the complicated gating and just made it simple, straight-forward gating. Not quite what I thought they meant.

/signed to this part for sure.

I see the racial trees as having all sorts of cool abilites, that I would gladly spend 1 or 2 AP each on...but even for the very nicest racial enhancements, I would never, ever, ever, spend 21 or 22 AP getting at the cost of my class abilities.

As is, I expect to spend between zero and three AP in my racial tree.

If you've forgotten before you had to "unlock" the first enhancement you just automatically got every first core ability which made any spellcaster crippled by the savant penalties...I'm ok with "unlocking" the prestiges now that we have 6 trees.

Um, that is not what I recall seeing/doing at all. What I recall is that you still had to SELECT the first core enhancement - you were not just "automatically given them all". It's just that they cost 0 AP (that's "zero" AP).

Now, as far as class enhancments go, I can kinda, sorta see the reasonng behind it, but definitely NOT for racial enhancements.

It's not like you can have more than one race, now, is it?

maybe it should be made in such a way that placeing 1 ap, in the first core enchancement of prestige of your choice (one that you would consider main) would unlock all other available trees aswell (each tree would track own points spent for ability to get higher tier enchancements from non main prestige), but at same time lock down possibility of takeing any other core abilities from other prestiges and tier 5 enchancements, becosue current system allows you to splash 3 classes and assuming that each of those classes have 3 prestiges you can unlock at least 2 tiers in all of them. sure it would close down some possibilities but would balance the new system.

I don't mind needing to pick a tier ability for one of the class trees. If all you want is the first core ability then it makes sense that you should pay for it.

But for the race tree. You've already chosen your race and you can't unchoose it. So there is no reason why the first core selection shouldn't be automatic. Particularly since the racial Tier picks tend to be pointed for a specific motif.

The Drow racial tier choices for example seems focused on a ninja / assassin of some sort. If you decide to go with a Drow sorceror then the tier choices hold absolutely nothing of value. The only things worth picking are the core choices.

( I've got conflicting information on whether the core choices require AP progression or not )

/signed against the whole point spent in tree stupidity. ( Racial and Class enhancements )

But since it's going to be released monday, it won't change... And since we have been telling Turbine that it was a stupidity since we saw it and they still have kept it that way it probably won't change.
