OK, so what's the deal with the pawnbrokers?

Is it just me or are the various pawnbrokers in the game severely broken?

At first I thought it was just the ones in the Marketplace, further investigation shows the House Deneith (weapon) and House Kundarak (Armor) pawnbrokers are having similar issues...

The issue being, not selling items of the appropriate value/level classification and/or not buying appropriate value/level items.

I know the pawnbrokers are usually used sparingly to begin with, but is this something that has been or is going to be addressed or am I stuck trying to hock my wares on the AH or getting the crappy sell price from tavern and basic shop owners? Some of us like to use them (the pawnbrokers) opposed to inflated AH prices or just simply using vendor loot for crafting materials...

If the item in question is damaged, it lowers the value. Therfore you can't sell it to the guy you'd normally sell it to, you have to sell it to the lower price broker.

Definitely was not the issue since it was all brand new gear pulled in adventures (no damage) - and its not just the gear I'm selling, it's the gear that the pawnbrokers have available for purchase as well.

So I went back to take another look at the various pawnbrokers and realized its not the pawnbrokers that are broken; it's my ability to read (or exchange gold to platinum currency) that is flawed.

In my mind, I was thinking platinum prices where the pawnbrokers are asking gold prices

How long were you out of the game?

Brokers USED to deal in gold, but that was changed a while back.

Value of weapons was also adjusted down significantly a few mods back as well.

Yeah, although platinum seems to be the primary currency when using the pawnbrokers they are still asking for items in their gold value equivalents (eg: items valued up to 3,000 gold pieces) - my last few braincells were not translating this properly

It's really annoying. I've had lots of people ask the same question because Turbine didn't go back and change the dialogue. It's stupid for the game to be plat-based, while select dialogue is still gold-based.
