If often really is. I have some hearing difficulties. I'm not deaf, but a series of massively bad ear infections as a child and a 70's father who thought putting the baby seat on top of the booming speakers was a great idea did some damage. So...sometimes what I hear people say is an exciting new foray into conversational avenues previously never considered by sane people on earth. LOL And Dre and Coddex love to make me say what I thought I heard before they'll tell me, or let anyone else.

Well, I was on Orien (anyone remember Turtle from Forgotten Legion/Forgotten League?) LOL But I didn't enjoy the 'wild west anything goes' culture it had in how players treated each other, and Metal told me I'd probably love Sarlona, and he was right. Been here two years or so now and really love it.

I was in that nightmare 9 hour Citw (I was only there for a ***** 5 hours), and i remember it was your humour that was one of the things that kept people going.

*giggles* Something that crazy should not have been that much, but it totally was. I have caught a lot of flak implying I was too stupid to leave the raid, so I'm going to talk about that day here. Especially since I was in it the entire time, from about noon to about 8:30. Thugbug threw up a 10 major mana pot ee citw buyin raid, the mana pots being for the healers. And while I know how some people feel about 'you must pony up x to join this raid' I also know as a healer how many peeps scream at me to chug pots in raids then vanish the minute it's over, and I'm expected to cover a massive pot use quest and always have a huge stock for the next raid magically. *smirks* So I have no problem with these.

It was a pug. We had people who were unfamiliar with the raid, unfamiliar with EE's, or both. Not most of the party, just a coupla guys. But they listened and went to stock up on cure pots, heal pots, and whatever else we could think to tell them to help themselves with.

The people were fabulous fun to be with. Everyone was friendly, working together, trying out tactics, no one got nasty when something didn't work, they just suggested a different tactic, there was constant and steady progress. Jokes and laughter flew around and it was hard to breath from laughing. Things went wrong, Thug dc'd and was not able to reconnect, a few people left, others came in, when we found ourselves with no healers at the fifth hour mark I MIGHT have made myself somewhat famous (by the sheer amount of people who go "You're Tortoisse? I heard about you! How happy is your healer?" lol with an offhand remark about the fact that I could get us one but he would require private off game payment.

And in the end we won. And a lot of people(none of whom where there) have told me it wasn't worth it, but it completely was. And if I can't make them understand that sheer amount of fun it was, with all the laughter and camaraderie between the curse-out sessions on Lolth (didn't we do a who can most creatively curse out the stomach at one point? Which I LOST!) and the fact that it was the ONLY time something I did in ddo truly FELT EPIC as opposed to bloated hp beatdown hard, I don't think I can ever really connect about the experience and why it was completely worth it, and how awesome it felt to finally kill the spider wench and win! There may have been a moment where turtle dignity was thrown aside and I threw down the headphones and did ******** looking renditions of the Snoopy happy dance. By the end I'd forgotten all about the pdk favor that was what drove me into that thing in the first place, and it was two days before I realized I had access to the special pdk store. LOL I was so busy gloating that LOLTH WENT DOWN! BOOOYAH!

I think only maybe 5 of the original 12 were still there at the end, but for that one day it kinda transcended grinding a video game, and it WAS an actual quest with people falling along the way and new people arriving, and we were going to do what it took to save Faerun. And we did. And it felt like it. One of what I'm told constantly by those who don't get it was my worst ddo moment was my best, and I love the people who went through it with me and am thrilled when I see someone who was like "Oh hey Turtle, I remember you, we went through that together!" I laughed at Coddex for whining, he only did the last three hours. By the end I'd forgotten all about the pdk favor that was what drove me into that thing in the first place, and it was two days before I realized I had access to the special pdk store. LOL

It was the most immersive event I've ever had in a video game, quite simply.

And I never got lost in that quest again. A huge turtle shout out to all of you who came back for me, or voice guided me with the map when I kept getting lost early on, and I was really proud that by about the three hour mark I stopped getting lost, a record for me!

Now Devs; Do not take this thinking you have an audience for 9 hour raids if you're haunting my post, it was a synergy of the people and the raid and trading news of the ddo day and other elements I don't think is repeatable. I hope to the turtles of the sea you don't actually have an audience for nine hour raids, I think it would do me in if that was a regular thing. LOL I was so tired by the end of it.

I have given the teamspeak server out on several pms, if you sent me a pm and didn't get it, lemme know, as Boy and I had an awful time with the forum pms. If you did get it, hop on and get to know us! I'm usually on between 2 and 8 (life willing, this week has been spotty with a friend having seirous medical issues) and we'd love to get to know you!

Right now I don't have any characters on Sarlona and usually don't play until after 8pm EST (except possibly on the weekends), but I wanted to let you know that I really like the sound of your group. It certainly sounds right up my alley and it sounds like a great opportunity for people to join up with a static group.

Right now all my characters are on Cannith and I'm usually on either by myself, with my fiance or with my fiance & brother.

If I roll up a character on Sarlona, I'll be sure to look you up.

Sorry I haven't been on much this week, my cable company is making me crazy and supposedly coming to fix the dang signal today(and Dre has been busy this week with the back to school for kids). 105, faints. I'ts been in the high 90's here, around 95, but it's the heat combined with the 85% humidity that just kills me. It almost feels like trying to walk through hot wet towels going outside. L OL

FYI Peeps! I will be really sporadic this week thanks to my boss being on vacation and working extra hours. Instead of my usual 2 to 8 run time it will be if I'm lucky 5 to 8. I have no idea what is going on with Coddex this week, (I know, bad wife, but I've been busy helping my son re-settle after moving back), dre is navigating back to school, but BoyandhisDog should be around.

You probably want to add Tortoisse, Velocaraptor, Loggerhead, and Turltey, since those are the toons I've been boffing around with the most lately. I haven't actually played poor Turtel in...a very long time. Which is sad, she's my first and favorite toon, but altitis has obviously bitten me hard on the shell as per my sig list. : ) I really need to get that updated with the iconics.
