failed to load patch client

So I tried logging in earlier and have yet to be able to even download the update patch. after clicking the shortcut on my screen it pulls up the window like normal except that instead of it downloading the patch it comes up with a message saying " failed to load patchclient (cannot load library patchclient: the specified module could not be found.)" Is anyone else getting this message or knows how to fix it?

I've just installed on an xp computer and keep getting the same message and theres no feedback from turbine yet and noone else seems to have a clue

jimiinfinity, same issue; just installed on xp computer few days ago. loaded, logged in for about 15mins two days ago; exited w/o issue. now today, when i have time to quest, receive this error. "An update error occurred: Failed to create PatchClient" Now just 60 second Retry cycles. Hope moderator notes, responds.

update: appears intermittent; error no longer encountered, hope it stays that way.

Hey guys

Okay, I found a solution that seems to be a permanent fix. If you pay close attention to the launcher, it tries to initiate something with the 2005 C++ visual libraries. Just go to your control panel, uninstall the 2005 Redistributable C++ thing and download it from the following site: http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-V...-10726887.html

Install that, relaunch your client and you should be good to go.

Hey guys,

Getting the same problem here, its 2014-03-08 right now.
I wasn't playing for a year, got back, tried to launch the game, fought my battle with downloader and now I am stuck on this message.

I don't even understand why would that happen since I download client yesterday, why would I need to patch it right away.

Tried the above steps and it still doesn't work.


Anyone has any suggestions about how to solve this problem?

What, what? Ok I have just tried to see what this patchclient.dll is all about and obviously this file is totally broken (0 bytes).
Can someone please host the proper one and share the link?

Same with my Client. It worked well some days ago(like 20). Now It is not workng at all.

Update: Reinstalling C++ helped!!!

What is this MS Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable and MS V C ++ 2010 x86 Redistributable - 10.0.40219?? I am guessing I NEED one or the other and that it was downloaded when I downloaded DDO.

I am lost and confused on this mess and very frustrated.....

I kept getting an error 202 message as well. One was about it cannot open or load data files and the other was something like can't find the 'English" file and what not.....Please help.
