The idea has been brought up several time already, and it's a too good one to let it rot.
It's an idea based on what we have here in France ( it was first suggested in the French sub-forum ),
It's somewhat like Collectible Card or Trading Card, but it's with stickers, and you complete a book with your stickers.
The DDO version is different though, and it's purpose is to be fun and to provide an outlet for all those named items we
collect along the way.
The Item Collector is akin to the Monster Manual.
That is it's a book where you put your named items as your kills are put in your Monster Manual.
The Item Collector only carries Named Items.
The Item Collector will not be a storage for Named Items, if you put a Named Item into the collector it will stay in the Collector
( you will not be able to take it out ).
The Item Collector will not Collect Raid Named Items. ( for obvious reasons, though there's an option that can be explored, see below )
There's two parts in it :
- The Character Item Collector
- The Account Item Collector
Both brings rewards ( I'd say some XP, may some pets or other stuff... that's to be defined ) when deeds are unlocked.
The Item Collectors are sorted by quest, quest chains and/or adventure packs when appropriate. ( choose the most appropriate )
Optionaly it can also be sorted by faction favor if it's easier to do.
The Character Item Collector
This collector is for the Bound to Character Items
Each page from the collector represent a quest [chain]( or expansion pack ) with a slot for each Bound to Character Named Item from that quest chain.
To add an item, just drop said item on it's slot, the item gets removed from your inventory and gets added to the Collector.
The Account Item Collector
This collector is for the Bound to Account Items
Each page of the collector represent a quest [chain]( or expansion pack ) with a slot for each Bound to Account Named Item ( and unbound ) from that quest chain.
To add an item, just drop said item on it's slot, the item gets removed from your inventory and gets added to the Collector.
Important note :
As hinted by the split there can be 2 pages for each quest [chain]( or expansion pack ) one in the Character part of the Item Collector and one in the Account part of the Item Collector.
Rewards can be awarded for the following :
- completion of a set of items ( when there's Named Sets to get )
- putting a number of items in the Collector per quest [chain]( or expansion pack )
- completing a page of a Collector
- completing both the Character and the Account page for a given quest [chain]( or expansion pack )
- completing the whole Collector ( Nickname of the reward : Pack Rat )
Character Item Collector rewards can be in the form of XP, BtC items and/or thematically consistent new Named Item
Account Item Collector rewards can be in the form of BtA consumables, Pets and/or thematically consistent new Named Item
Special Option for Raid Named Items.
Note : This is an option and is in no way part of the basic idea.
Raid Items have been excluded from the basic idea for the obvious reason that a lot of grief can be created by having them in
the Item Collector ( people looting everything, even when they don't need it just ot fill the collector among other things ).
For Raid Items, even as they are all Bound to Character, a Special set of Collector Pages is created, this set of pages is called the Raid Item Collector.
The Raid Item Collector is an Account wide collector and does not contain any item. It also does not bring any reward.
As it doesn't contain any item it is not filled with the same mechanism as the other Item Collectors ( thus one of the reasons why it is optional )
The relevant slot of the Raid Item Collector will be filled automatically when a character of a given account loots one of the Raid Item.
The item does not go into the Collector, the slot for that item is just filled indicating that a character on the account earned that item.
As there is no reward involved with filling Raid Item Collector Pages ( except the right to brag ) this should limit the risk of griefs over raid loot.
