    Default getting data centers freeze

ive just recently downloaded ddo, i get to getting data centers and thats as far as it goes. i have left it for 6hrs on this screen and it has not progressed any further. i have serched the support forums and have got nowhere in resolving this issue.

    ok things that don't work
command prompt refuses to operate in windows 7 as people expect it keeps coming up saying this is not a know command no matter what is entered!!

fire wall is open for all game ports.

    now what do i do?

For troubleshooting purposes I'd try to turn off your firewall temporarily to see if that fixes it. If it does you know you missed something. Another thing to try off the top of my head is to run the launcher as admin. If neither of those fix things I'm out of ideas but hopefully someone else will have an idea.

Try pulling up your Task Manager and watching the performance of the DDO launcher as it does its thing. Sometimes it tops responding, if youre on a laptop with a slower processor, or if you have a less-than-optimal internet connection. I'm playing on an HP laptop atm with a dual-core 1.3GHz processor, and I am (unfortunately) having to use a crappy ClearWire connection. Sometimes the game just wont load for me, and I have to End Task and try again.
All that is wrong with DDO, life, taxes, poltics, religion, music, fast food, education, the criminal justice system, the weather, society, the universe, and previously-discontinued-but-now-on-their-way-back snack cakes, is all the fault of Wizards of the Coast. I know this because Fred told me so, and Mind Flayers are smart.

    Default Turbine moved your thread

So, at least the forum mods have read your thread.

It looks like this is happening a lot by reading this forum.

What OS are you running? Window 7. I run on a Windows 7 box no problem. Rule that out.

Are you running wired or wireless?

This is the location of my turbine game files, your location could be different

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Turbine\DDO Unlimited

Are you allowing AwesomiumProcess through your firewall? This has been a problem in the past.

What is the date of your turbineinvoker file?

Happy Cloud? Why do you run through Happy Cloud? I don't have Happy Cloud on my machines at all. This is the absolute FIRST thing I would eliminate. If you insist on running through Happy Cloud, then this is the company I would first contact as to what the problem is.

    Default From happy Cloud

Q: (LOTRO and DDO users) When I start the game I get messages saying to download Microsoft .Net, what should I do?

A: First, open up the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Settings), and uninstall Microsoft .NET 1.1, in case there is a problem with the current installation. Then download and install Microsoft .NET 1.1:

and then download and install the service pack for .NET 1.1:

Make sure you run .NET 1.1 before installing the service pack.

Q: The game's launcher is giving me errors! How should I fix this?

A: Launcher errors are more likely to be caused by the games themselves rather than the Happy Cloud Client. You can try searching the Turbine knowledge base at

Since I don't use Happy Cloud, and I don't have launcher problems, something tells me Happy Cloud is not quite as Happy as the say it is.

Now, why exactly do you insist on running a game through a third party application when the game works almost perfectly fine without the third party application.

    sorry for late reply.

It was the only quick launch file i had for the game. Had to dig out the launch file. I have tried both wired and wireless connections and it didn't change a thing still pauses at the same spot. manged to get my cmd working again can use the ipconfig option once i find it again

Reading this again, you're having problems with your console commands as well as ddo not updating? Or were at any rate? If this is so I'm going to say you have something else running that might be doing something odd. I haven't heard of ddo doing anything that would effect the console in any way shape or form before. Not that it's impossible but... Anyways having the console bug out makes me wonder if something else not ddo related is the cause and ddo is a casualty.

Wait this is a cellular data connection? How's your signal, most of those connections that I've used have had such bad latency that anything more than web and email was very very buggy. In a console window since you say that works now
    type
    ping www.ddo.com

This is my result for reference

Pinging newwebvip.ddo.com [74.201.103.121] with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 74.201.103.121: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=48

    Reply from 74.201.103.121: bytes=32 time=43ms TTL=48

    Ping statistics for 74.201.103.121:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 41ms, Maximum = 66ms, Average = 48ms

yeah no loss moderate latency what you would expect from dsl. My experience with the cell modems was that you never get less than 200ms and 10% loss which would have probably caused your issues but that's obviously not the case here.
