Default "That other game" is going to add microtransactions?

World of Warcraft developers exploring in-game microtransactions

I didn't read the article, my interest in WOW isn't that compelling.

With the new enhancement system moving DDO closer to a WoW clone, it's only fitting WoW will do that to move both games closer together. *sigh*
Once upon a time, I was part of a team, and we saved some children. That was long ago and far away, and, yes, I am that old.

I will never understand why people that don't know what they're talking about feel as though they must spout incorrect information. It's quite clear that A.) You've never played WOW or B.) You're unable to build proper toons. WOW is not known for its deep building options, and that's exactly what the enhancement pass is bringing to DDO. Having spent several hours building new toons on Lam, I'm amazed by the flexibility the new system brings and how much it opens up the game. If you're the type of player that needs to follow a build posted on the forums, then you're going to be in trouble for awhile, but don't worry, we will have builds for you soon.

Thanks for the laugh. I have been making my own builds, using Ron's planner here - http://www.rjcyberware.com/DDO/, about four years now.

I played WoW for a while, getting a fire mage to level 70, before I just gave up on it all, in part because building a character was too restrictive the way the trees were designed.

Having spent hours trying to reproduce my existing builds on Lamannia, I'm amazed at how I'm forced into taking enhancements I don't want to get the kinds of builds I already have working for my characters on the live servers. Worse, I'm unable to reproduce the existing builds I've spent years learning how to make for myself. Those builds are solid and fun for me to play. I'm not gaining anything with the new system going live with the expansion. I am losing years of learning, research, time, and effort that I put into making my existing builds.

You're right the enhancement crash is actually similar to rift instead.
