Default Halfling Altair from Assassin's Creed

Has anyone attempted a character themed build? I'm thinking Altair is a fairly basic fighter/rogue with sword & dagger, and throwing daggers. Probably a fairly high jump and tumble, with move silently, hide in shadows, and possibly bluff & diplomacy.

Anyone build something similar or know of an existing build? All the old DDO links seem to be dead.

Because you mention dead links, I'll mention fixing them.
Between .com and /showthread, there's /en/, /de/ etc. Change that to /forums/ and things work. Just FYI.

Based off my rogue lives (and the stupidly high hours I spent on assassins creed), I'd argue that assassinate would be Altairs choice (from both flavour and gameplay perspective)
I mean really, how often did he just get out the hidden blades and take someone out quietly? Often, unless you liked giant fights (that's me!), in which case I just counter killed... which doesn't actually exist on DDO. But that's more instant kill, so I'm really leaning towards assassinate.
So, based off my incredible logic, I'd just say make ye' ol' int rogue.

    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...nt-based-build
One of my favourite assassin builds, although I wouldn't mind more str, instakill is more fun. (and suits flavour better)
You can use shortsword/dagger if you want, but good luck finding a decent shortsword (aside from Celestia)
Doesn't have longsword prof, sadly enough, but to fit with flavour, you could argue he's just using a second dagger, because a sword was too easy. (and yes, you can max most skills with that build, simply because it has a stupid amount of skill points.

Hope either the link (or my logic) helps.. If not, then I'm not sure. It seems very rare (esp as the series goes on) that I find myself attacking, aside from fun (or combo-kill (whatever it should be called...))

For flavor, I suppose you could drop PA+IS for a couple of throwing feats (e.g., Quick Draw + IC:Thrown); then go farm up, say, an eNoxious Fang. Not what I would do, but what's life without a little added challenge for fun?

EDIT: built for rapiers (IC:Pierce), once you have eMidnight Greetings you may want to switch kukris, in which swap IC:P for IC:Slash.

... thanks! Certainly does help. It's probable that everyone knew that, and I didn't (was driving me nuts!). Assassinate certainly does fit the bill; was only mentioning mixing in fighter as rogues appear to be so feat starved.

So, with rogue and assassinate in hand; anyone find cosmetics on a white robe and hood? Because that would just be disgustingly sweet.

    Eh. http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Helm_of...gon_(Level_25)

Sure as hell not the perfect thing, but for looks, sure. (Although, for eHard or easier, should be fine, everyone likes AC)
Not 110% sure of other robe/hoods, but I guess I'll go searching through.
For a "proper" gear perspective, you'd be better in black dragonscale/helm, but that's not a hood, and it doesn't come in white. (just food for ze thinkings)
Oh, and don't forget, this is Altair. As such, if you fall in water, sit there and drown. No swimming allowed.

So, 100% rogue going for the assassin tree, swim skill reduced to its lowest outcome (no swimming lol), some kind of sword, a dagger, throwing knives, and white robes with hood. Am I missing anything?

Dig this discussion, just sounds fun ...

You're missing bales of hay, for one. And we have no horses. Just so we're clear. You actually have to run from Acre to [name of town, I've forgotten in the last few years]

... if we inventory Altair, I'm thinking we would end up with an assassin with:

High: balance, bluff, diplomacy, haggle, hide, move silently, spot, search, jump, tumble
    Low: swim

    I'm thinking high dex/cha, medium str/con/int, and fair wis. Maybe something like: 12, 14, 14, 12, 10, 14 (not sure that calculates right--32pt. build).

We have to get our assassin in white (or near-white) robes, hood, and pairing a sword/dagger or dagger/dagger combination, and the use of throwing knives.

So, what does he miss out on? No horseback, no hay stacks (but, with tumble could leap off tall perches), no real ability to "get lost in the crowd," or riposte. But, not entirely bad ...

Plus: a number of ddo players might not appreciate Altair since he wouldn't do much with traps.

While I'm all for flavour, there is a line that should be drawn. It doesn't HAVE to be, but... it'd make things more pleasant. For everyone. :P

    1) Charisma? Why? He wasn't charismatic, he was scary. And smart (play PSP AC, you'll understand. Wait, don't. It sucked.), so start with more int, less wisdom (he made a lot of stupid choices)... dex, for flavour, sure. Limits your weapons more, but you know that already.

    2) Get them traps!
Silliness aside, a rogue gets so many stat points that putting 2/level into trap skills isn't hard, and is rather useful to a group. If you get less charisma/wisdom and more int, you'll get 2 more skill points than now, which.. search/disable.. ^^
You see, what you don't see (they didn't want to bore us) was Altair getting traps left, right and centre.

Of course, you don't have to listen to either suggestion, but a balance of flavour and practicality is always good. (Currently working on getting the kinks out of a staff build... Flavour, yes. But it should out dps a fair few toons, while being 90% self-sufficient. And no, you can not haz it. Mine! :3)
