That was for fun, but sure call me out on it.

    yes FUN.
Which does not involve being dictatorial over others loot.
Our loot policy is no more dictatorial than your policy dictating how you'd like people in your guild to run. (certain weapons, specific rules as to how you can group) You run a thematic guild because it's fun for you. We chose to make people roll off loot they don't need because we believe that everyone who participated in the quest/raid should have an equal chance of acquiring it after it's determined the original puller has no need for it. That's actually fun for everyone since everyone get a 2nd chance, not just on other person.

Proxy rolls, trades via tells and other things of the sort are to me devious and greedy. But again that my thoughts on the subject.

    Default Not here...

I joined this thread stating that I was not surprised by which guilds wanted to be "fair" and /or which guilds found other methods of treasure allotting to be "devious".

I did not come here to critique the method of treasure dispersal nor to defend some thematic choices I made 6 years ago.

This disagreement over the loot has been going on for as many years.
Some feel the loot is theirs to do with what they please others ... not so much.

Perhaps some of you recall a time when the leader of the VoN raid had the power to award the end rewards to whomever they chose.
That went over like a lead air-ship.

You must be easily amused to think a shared casual chat channel would institute some sort of blanket treasure rule.
Ya know what The Shat says.
While alliance has a bunch of people whose guild isn't officially a member, the person who got me following this whole selling-raidloot-isn't-ok thing was, in fact, a member of a guild in the alliance. And he didn't get me following it because it's a channel rule (for the record, I didn't even know user channels existed at the time). He got me following it because it's the decent thing to do. Then the creator of said channel comes along and mocks the idea. That's where the amusement lies.

Edit: Didn't really get what you were trying to say with the last sentence in your post. Quick googling & urban dictionary revealed it having something to do with William Shatner. Not sure how that's at all relevant with anything discussed here. Could you elaborate?

    Edit2:

I wasn't around at that time, but what the heck, I'll bite. The reason This sort of thing goes away is because it's easy to abuse, and if the raiding scene is big enough, abusers don't get penalized in a meaningful way. If this method of awarding raidloot to groups was still in place, this thread wouldn't be called The Argos Directory of Guilds where buying/selling raidloot is NOT OKAY. It'd be called The Argos Directory of Guild where raidloot is rolled on. (incidentially, it'd mean a whole lot less pug spots in many many guild runs, but that's a digression.)
