HARD CRASH when logging out and exiting game

Still working to isolate the problem. But I am getting close.

Either my hard drive has decided to fail at the same time as a new update has occurred or there is something about logging out. Before, occasionally, I would logout and the screen would just lockup and I would have to go into Task Manager and stop the DnDclient process. No big deal.

This hard crash is a big deal. And so far, it has only occurred three times and each time has been when I logged out and exited the game.

It is possible that the new update has gone to some bad part of the hard drive as I don't think anything else was updated yesterday on my machine.

As I said, I am working to isolate the problem. This is in case others are having the same problems. I am nowgoing to read some of the other problems people are posting about.

Now, I am going to check all my settings on the account.

SYSTEM_SERVER_EXCEPTION was the item that appeared on the BSD, I wasn't looknig fast enough as I am still waking up and thinking of coffee.

Then I press the exit game button. Just 2 for 2 doing it that way, which does not prove much. But it is better than a HARD CRASH and BSD.

Before was when I was on a character standing in the harbor and I pressed LOGOUT and EXIT game.

I will also try to see what happens of I just press ALT-F4 to stop the process.

Then I exit from there.

I have only done One Alt F4 to terminate and that did not hard crash.

I have not done a logout and exit since this morning when I started to test this out to see what was causing my hard crashes. Looks like I am going to do the Alt F4 to see if it hard crashes, ten times, then go back to test the Logout and Exit.(which I am currently nervous about)

I was standing in the harbor and pressed ALT-F4 four times. On the 4th try I had the HARD CRASH.

Unfortunately I did not see the BSD message as I was on the phone with my brother.

It looks like a quick exit out of the Harbor might lead to a HARD CRASH. I guess now I try from the Marketplace or the houses.

I have been logging out and exiting the game from the Harbor thousands of times prior to Monday's update. At least 30 per day, and never had a problem. Since Monday, I have now had FIVE HARD CRASHES.

Then from that screen I EXIT the game.

I have done it 25 times, with zero hard crashes. NO BLUE SCREENS OF DEATH, or BSDs.

Is it possible that there is a different terminate game routine on that screen?

Or is it that there is some graphics bug when I logout and exit in game or pre4ss ALT- F4 to end the game?

If I had a bad point on my hard drive for terminating the game, I would think I would have it happen from the Character Selection Screen also.

It seems the technical assistance forum is more of a The Users can get their problems of off their chest forum and maybe another user will help them because no one with technical assistance powers is going to read or respond to the forum Forum.

ON my third try of logging out and exiting the game from House K I had the HARD CRASH Blue screen of death.

Looks like my safest bet is to logout to the Character Selection Screen and the exit the game to avoid hard crashes.
