Go to https://myaccount.turbine.com/
Use your game credentials to log in.
Go to Account Profile.
Confirm your email
Make sure country is either USA or Canada
confirm your password.
submit

now try logging into the forums.

Well, it didn't work for me. I created a new F2P account and can log in that way. Better than nuttin I guess, considering all the other problems.

At least in my case, my main doesn't have any world-shattering rep or posts I really care about.

I wasn't able to log in at all, it kept timing out.
As soon as I had applied the changes, it worked fine.

At the same time I also changed the nickname though (after the update it was set to some obscure combination of words, so i changed it back to the nickname that I've always had in this forum), so I am actually not too sure whether it was purely the country selection, or changing the nickname, or even both that let me log into forums eventually.
