    Default How to make this Arcane Better ????

    I'm a level 10 Arcane Ranger on Orien and soon to be level 11.

    I have the following items, and am interested in advice on better/different items I should look for:

    STR: Ogre Belt +5
    DEX: Dex Gloves +4
    CON: Health +5 Necklace
    INT: Clever +5 Goggles (I switch these out with Blindness Ward Goggles)
    WIS: Wise +2 Hat of Wizardry
    CHA: Cloak +5

    Other:
    Ring of Spell Resistance (13)
    Coarsair's Galloshes: Striding +15% / Balance +5 / Jump +5
    Proof vs Disease +6 Ring of Improved False Life
    Armored +4 Bracers of Repairing +3
    Thaarak Fang: Proof vs Poison +6

    Weapons:
    Dynastic Falcata: Khopesh +5/Adamantine/True Law/Ruby of Minor Shock
    +5 Riptide Khopesh: Tidal/Frost
    +4 Frost Longbow of Righteousness

    Armor:
    Vulkoorin Fighting Leathers:
    +5/Improved Fire Resistance/Hide +10/Physical Resistance +2

    Thanks for taking the time to read, and for any assistance you might offer.

    You are wearing several useless items:

    Clever goggles => increased Int offers no benefit to your character, at all. Just use Blindness Ward

    Cloak of Charisma => only useful for Use MAgic Device and possibly some other skills. Unless you're using these skills actively, consider slotting e.g. Resistance bonus to saves here.

    Thaarak Fang: bonus to saves vs poison is probably less important than penalty to will saves. I would not use this item. Not sure what adv.packs you own. E.g. Dusk Heart from AH could serve you well here.

    Corsair's Galoshes - okay; better striding could be useful

    Armored Bracers - does not stack with armor. look at parrying/greater parrying bracers instead

    Try to slot:
    -Resistance
    -Heavy Fortification
    -Devotion spell power for a bit self-healing

    heavy fort items at your level range are often quite expensive on the AH. You can look at this: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=284046

    Tip: people often wear a wizardry/power item when entering quest or while shrining, then they cast their buffs and switch to another gear.

    Well said by Cru121, +1 for solid advice.

    You really need Heavy Fort. I would make it a point to get maybe a Minos Legens.
    You will find value in a resistance item. Maybe a +4 or +5 resist cloak. This helps your saves. All of them.
    I would look for a convelesance of parrying bracers. At epic levels a 30% healing amp with a bonus to parrying(AC)
    The only other thing I see missing is a protection item which adds to your Ac.

    As a ranger, if you do a lot of ranged "kiting" haste pots and always the fastest "striders" you can afford.

    Good Luck

    By mid levels(~10) you should have heavy fort on any character you make, ever.

    I don't know if you're free to play or premium/VIP. For F2Ps there's Nightforge Gorget(necklace) from Relic of a Sovereign Past or heavy fort on random gen belts, and for nonF2P there's Minos Legens(helm, also has toughness mod) from Shred of Tapestry turnins in Necropolis.

    As a pure ranger, the stats that you should be worrying about are str, dex, con, and wis. Cha and int don't do anything for you.

    Recently, random gen +6 stat loot can be gotten at ml9 from end rewards and ml11 from chests. Plain +6 stat loot can be expensive, so you'll either have to be lucky with rewards/loot or wait until lvl13/15 to get cheap +6 stat+trash mod items.

    In addition to heavy fort and relevant +6 stat items, the item mods you'll want are:
    Improved or greater false life - random belt or ring is most available, in Relic of A Sovereign Past you can get a Nightforge Armbands-has heroism clicky and improved false life)

    Toughness - Minos Legens or a random gen cloak

    Resistance - Boots of the Innocent(old version is ml11, new is ml13) or random gen cloak or ring. I recently pulled a ml7 +4 resistance ring while leveling my rogue.

    For armor, you can go with Silken Mail or crafted/random gen loot. Life shield, deathblock, heavy fort, elemental resistances, etc. Light armor for some prr but retaining evasion.

    Once you get these base mods on your gear(+6 stats, heavy fort, etc), don't look for upgrades every couple of levels. Stick with what you have, save your plat. Upgrade your weapons every few levels depending on what you find in questing or on the AH. Don't go crazy or anything, the real focus will be equipment for 20+.

    Look into Paralyzing weapons, melee and ranged. Fantastic... (!!!) For ml16, you can get 1-2x Envenomed Blades.

    Relic of a Sovereign Past also has some recently redone ml8 weapons. 1.5[W] base.

    Silver Longbow from the Church and the Cult is a very good weapon.

    More expensive options are the Legend Tomes turnins in Necropolis, particularly Deathnips. (Can farm the pages, pretty uncommon but not a terrible grind) You can also craft/have crafted for you +4-5 Holy (silver/cold iron/adamantine) (weapon of choice) of (bane of choice) for DR breaking.

    Above advice is all good.

    Also, the Cannith challenge loot is fantastic for leveling. The bracers give blurry, the tunic gives freezing ice, and the ML12 khopeshes (+4 paralyzing, icy burst, crushing wave) can be crafted with master craftsmanship to make them ML 10, and will be very very powerful for about 6-10 levels (at which point you can craft epic versions). The bow of earth is also very nice if you can't loot better (like Sinew).

    Thanks Battlehawke. I typically run solo on missions, so I end up playing more of a tank then a true AA. Thanks for your input. I appreciate your time.

    If you have access to the challenges don't underestimate those khopeshes. They add an incredible amount of crowd control via paralyzing and on top of that will out damage your current weapons. Used with cleave/GC they will leave a group of guys standing there drooling while you cut them to pieces.

    also look at upgrading your bow.

    if you can find it, grab a silver longbow from the cult and the church.

    also look at the bow from the challenges

    Some things I'd like to add:

    Run Deleras to get Voice of the Master. it is an XP booster and adds to your Luck rating.

    There are a couple of quest chains that you're currently in the range to run, or will be coming up to running soon.

    The first, is the Cult of the Six, which has a lot of recently upgraded equipment with two augment slots. This stuff will grow with your toon. As an AA, you might want to see if you can get the Mummified Bat (+10 to Listen / Spot), Oilskin Tunic (+5 armor with acid resistence and a colorless slot), and a few others.

    You've already discovered Demon Sands quests, which has some decent explorer loot. Mainly:

    * Gloves of the Falcon,
    * Bow of the Elements,
    * Bracers of the Hunter,
    * Golden Grieves,
    * Cape of the Roc (?),
    * Spectral Gloves,

    There is the Assault on Stormreach that has two pieces of AA-friendly gear, namely:
    * Chimson Chain,
    * Windhowler Bracers,
    * Gnollish War Bow

    Also, there is the Eyes of Stone chain where you can pick up a Wrath of Sora Kell set, which gives you (at a minimum):
    * +5 STR,
    * +5 WIS,
    * +5 CHA,
    * +10 diplo,
    * +2 to-hit,
    * +2 to damage,
    * Secret door detection

    You can also run Tempest Spine (a very popular raid) for the following items:

    * Cloak of Invisibility,
    * Goggles of Perception,

    The intim bonus, for a ranger, is kinda useless.

    One of the best weapons my AA has at present (and he's lvl 17-ish now) I got in Demon Sands was a +3 Consecruting or Suns Fury bow. It was random loot.

    Not especially interesting when dealing normal damage, but when the thing crits? Stuff just drops dead.

    OK well since you're VIP, everythings on the table, so here's some things to look for

    Helmet: Minos Legens

    Necklace: Death's Locket for when you need DB

    Bow: On top of what everyone else has said, also a Holy of Pure Good (or Screaming of Bleed) with a Red Augment slotted with elemental damage. You're L10 now, so also pick up a Banishing/Disrupting/Smiting longbow

    Bracers: Cannith challenge for 20% Blur, or Windhowlers for damage and proc

    Boots: Get an Anger's Step or two from Korthos, or other appropriate clickly for Expeditious Retreat. If you have 4-5 charges per rest, that's enough to keep 25% Striding during quests (assuming no dispellers), meaning your boots dont have to have Striding. Then get just a plain loot 30% Striding boots from the AH for running around town Cannith boots are good for the defensive procs.

    Ring: You need some Devotion somewhere to boost your self-heals....you can get Devotion+spell points on a crafted ring, plus a Yellow slot. Other ring definitely Cannith Stalker ring once you hit 12 (or 10, if you can Master Craftsmanship it).

    Goggles: Attack Bonus/Blindness Ward. I have a Fear Immunity topaz in mine too, but I got lucky and got one early on, they're pricy now

    Armor: Giantcraft Leather, you can just buy the mats from the AH, dont even have to run the quests AFAIK. Three offensive procs that benefit both your melee and ranged DPS.

    Oh plus a few other miscellany, if you dont already have: A Goggles of Secret Door Detection, swap those in when you need to. Underwater Action Helm of Swim +X, very handy to have a SCUBA mask Feather Fall I usually slot in cloak, helps with trap jumping etc. as well as generally being useful.
