Which does nothing for staff monks. They may as well make Legendary Dreadnaught not even an option for monks instead of just nerf the **** out of anything monks could possibly get out of it.

Also without the wis boost, finishers which are already ridiculously hard to land in EE will become just that much harder. If you aren't Henshin main then you'll be down 6 wis, so -3 DC on finishers. Lovely. And if you ARE Henshin main, then you can't have Touch of Death anyway, but your Void 4 doesn't have a save so doesn't benefit from your higher wis. LOL

Uhg..not happy if so for my grandmaster of storms stance'd shintao.
You can just take the feat....

If you're implying he should just go fighter and dump monk, use the fighter bonus feats to do everything a monk can do and have some left over, then yes.

My biggest issue is the defensive stance reduces offhand attack chance? On the tree made for unarmed? This just doesn't make sense to me...

Well if you're in a defensive stance it only makes sense that you'd suddenly forget how to use one of your arms and legs as effectively. (That was sarcasm btw).

    Oh,
    And one more thing,
    Probably not soon enough,
But I hope they make the first henshin core ability a selective enhancement, that changes some of the other abilities(similar to kensai), so that you had riddle of fire/water/air/earth. That would just make henshin great in my opinion.

Wait--what? Can you provide any citation here? That sounds neat.

I have tested it ingame and can confirm that it works for now at least (having GM stances on a 12 fighter/6 ranger/2 monk)

Basically, you gain a feat at level 6, 12 and 18 monk called adept/master/grandmaster of forms. However, if you have at least 1 monk level, but fewer than 6/12/18 you will be able to select these feats as your levelup feats at that point or with another levelup feat if you have the monk level, fewer than the required monk levels to get it for free and are a high enough level.

You get all the stance upgrades at once, so all 18+ monks will have GM fire, water, air and earth to choose between, as well as all the elemental strikes of all tiers.

They aren't changing the actual stances themselves. Those are now given out via feats at the appropriate levels. These are in addition to what you currently have as part of the stances.

To go into a little more detail about the new way monk stances work:

At level 1 of monk, you are awarded all 4 elemental stances in their weakest forms. This is consistent with how it works on live. At level 6 of monk, you are automatically awarded the feat "adept of forms" which grants you a passive version of all 4 elemental stances that improves them to the adept tier. At level 12 of monk, you are automatically granted the feat "master of forms" which grants you a passive version of all 4 elemental stances that improves them to the master tier. At level 18 of monk, you are granted the feat "grandmaster of forms" which grants you a passive version of all 4 elemental stances that improves them to the grand master tier. This new system is also regardless of stat point distribution. There is no longer a minimum stat point requirement to get the higher tiers of your elemental stances. I was able to get all 4 grandmaster stances, and activate them, with a 12 score in some of the relevant stats.

Another big boost, to the monk splashes, is that those "X of forms" feats can be taken as regular feats as well. If you have at least 1 monk level, you can take adept of forms at level 6, master of forms at level 12, and grandmaster of forms at level 18, and get all 4 grandmaster stances with as little as 1 level of monk. The stances on lammania currently are exactly the same as they are on live, you just get them in a different way.

Your entire post just confuses me. You are making a comment in regards to some clarification about the shintao tree, while complaining that staff monks can't get everything out of the henshin mystic and ninja spy trees. I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to get at with this.

Well, from a logical standpoint, instead of using your offhand to try to land more attacks, you are using it instead to reduce the number of times you are hit. It actually makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Someone who is using both their arms to attack isn't worried about defense at all, and someone who is using one of their arms to defend against attacks doesn't do nearly as much damage. It's like equipping a shield and then complaining that you are getting the same DPS as someone who is dual-wielding khopesh's.

I can see where you're coming from, and my thoughts went there too initially, but then I remembered that we're talking about Monks. People who train to have perfect control of their own bodies. They don't defend with one hand. They block, or avoid the blow with their entire bodies.

I was wondering what I was seeing when building up a monk last night. Now I know.
