    Default Downloading SW:TOR

I'm trying to figure something out here. I recently upgraded my isp and got their 20Mb package. I realize that it means that I can download at roughly 2.5mb/s but SW:TOR is truly vexing me. It's been downloading for over 7 hours now and if my projections are even close, it should take another 2 hours. I'm good at math and I can't seem to wrap my head around why it should take more than 3 hours MAX to download 25gigs at 2.5Mb/s. Is it because the EA/Bioware/Lucasarts server is limiting my download? If so, that's a fat load of bunk. Or is it because WB shut down lucasarts and laid off all the server hamsters? Poor little hamsters... Sitting on street corners with their little cardboard signs reading "Will run in wheel for woodchips to poo on."

Yes, I've run speed tests choosing servers all corners of north america from Miami to L.A. to Anchorage to St. Johns. The slowest dl speed was a little less than 9mb/s.

I'm also assuming that the "Main Assets 1" is the last file to dl. 5 gigs left...

    1) Why would you ask that here instead of in that game's forums?
    2) MANY ISPs traffic shape which could slow you down
    3) Have you tested your DL speed? Sometimes you get far less than advertised
    4) Yes, the vendor may be limiting bandwidth

    1) I posted here because I frequent these forums FAR more often than the SW:TOR forums.
    3) As stated in my original post I did in fact test my dl speed.
    4) Think of the poor out of work hamsters!

    1) wrong game forums.
    2) just because something is advertised as capable, does not mean all other parts will support it. Servers, routing shaping, modem settings etc.
    3) your own PC may not be capable of doing it at that speed. (I've lost track of the cards that said they could do rating of X, but in reality only did 2/10ths of that due to OS and other factors)
    4) other traffic on the net and other net issues can cause slow down. While you may not be hit, DoS attacks can effect your own service causing slow down. I also know Earthlink was having DNS issues yesterday of some form.
    5) Lastly, in your package, do you know of they are talking actual megs or metric megs (as I call it). 1024 vs 1,000 as it were.

Just because you CAN download at 2.5m/s, doesn't mean you WILL download at that rate. Download rates can be affected by a great many different aspects, such as traffic on your connection, traffic around you, usage rates on the source of the download, source quality, and even hardware condition.
