Unable to download DDO

I would gladly download it from Steam, if for some reason it was NOT blocked for brazilian accounts. No idea if this is steam policy, or something with our local laws.

Till there, I am at a forced vacation from DDO. Let's hope by next week this is fixed.

I was having trouble with the launcher being stuck on the "connect" portion with the message "waiting". I figured I hadnt run the game in almost a year so maybe it is just WAY out of date. I decided I would uninstall and reinstall to get the most up to date version. BAD IDEA!!! Now it wont download from www.ddo.com same problem everyone else seems to be having. Download starts and then speed drops to zero in increments to zero then completely stops.

Id rather not download Steam just to redownload the game and still be stuck on the launcher problem of "waiting" forever. Turbine or SOMEONE please help.

After having problems with downloading from WWW.DDO.COM , I download from Steam. Downloaded fine. Steam did not create a shortcut so I had to go find the launcher. It took a little bit to find it. Mine was located here, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dungeons and Dragons Online\dndlauncher.exe". After creating the shortcut, I can run the game without having to be logged into steam to play. I hope this helps you guys out.

And shame on you Turbine, how do you expect people to start playing DDO, if it is so complicated to download the game in the first place. If I wasn't a die hard DDO player, I could see how this would be very frustrating and people might give up trying to start playing. Suggestion, cut out the middle man, and make it easier for people to download.

I uninstalled Steam and The DDO launcher worked fine on its own. Its a shame a customer of roughly 4 years would have to go through all this (or anyone really) to play a game they pay for. I guess after not playing for several months my launcher was out of date so by downloading a new one it now works fine. Too bad I couldnt just download it through www.ddo.com like i SHOULD be able too.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried in different machines and my network is just fine.

I've submitted a bug, this is pretty lame, mostly since it seems that it has been around for some days already and I haven't seen any announcement/notification anywhere....

EDIT: I tried to download PWI (which uses a similar process as DDO) and it is having basically the same issues. :/ Maybe it is not Turbine's fault...

I had to reinstall DDO on my computer after I formatted the Hard Drive...

The High Resolution vs. would not upload.

I even got my 2006 box out and dusted it off in an attempt to download-no Dice.

Had to grab it off of Steam to make it work.


Not that I have any skin in the game-but how does a company think they will acquire New Players when it is this difficult to pick up a F2P game?

Having the same issue. Had the hard drive die and needed to re-download everything including DDO. Spent a few hours trying to figure out why I could only download the first 150 kb and then the download would stop.

Thanks to this thread I was able to set up a Steam account and download that way.

Not sure what is going on.

Same here been trying for two days to install ddo on my old PC so my roommate and I can play. Couldn't get in install that was on there to update, since the launcher was stuck on "waiting", so I uninstalled and now can't reinstall because there is no working download.

I had a similar problem a while back. Couldn't download from the DDO's website link, even though the internet connection seemed ok. After I powercycled the router, it solved the problem. Could give that a try.

bypassed router and connected directly through modem - no fix
power cycled modem - no fix
reformatted the **** computer - no fix
tried a different network - no fix
tried it on a different computer on a different network - no fix

I'm convinced it's a turbine side problem... especially since this thread is being ignored.

Same thing with me. Gave up and downloaded with Steam, but would prefer to uninstall that and go with the download from the site.

I'm trying it right now. Its been on "114KB out of.... " for about 25 minutes now. Lama client is downloading just fine in a separate window. Why exactly was the lama clients 7MB estimated to take 1 hour while the 5 MB for the standard client says 4 hours?

Tried it again this morning, and now its working. Must only work between midnight and 4 am, lol.

Yeah I've been having all the same issues as everyone else, but I tried to download it around Midnight (mountain time) and still no go, sounds like through steam it is!
wonder what's going on here that it's working for some but not for others.

Still can not download either the Hi-res or standard clients. Turbine sort your s**t out, freaking amateurs I swear, can't even pay your domain name registration.

See, I'm a little further along the process because I still had the install files (for high-res, standard, and Lamaland)... but I'm stuck after the initial install, trying to connect for the 3-4 years of updates.

Lama installed just fine, though. But i can't get standard or high-res to connect for the updates (on my laptop, my desktop, or a USB drive connected to either one).
