    Default Unable to download DDO

Trying to download and neither the standard or hi-res versions will download. Nothing wrong with www.ddo.com or the rest of the internet, but as soon as it starts to download the 7Gb it stops at about 32k and then doesnt do anything else.

I have tried on several different machines (Win7/Win8) and all affected in the same way.

You tried on different machines on different networks ?

You must find find the common denominator.

Clearly it's not your computer, so it's either your network (if all tests have been made on the same network) or it's you (i.e. the way you configured those machines, installed programs ...)

I dont think the network is at fault as all other network stuff is working fine, including updates like Steam etc. The only thing not working is the DDO download. And without packng my PC up and taking it somewhere else, another network is not really an option.

I'm having the exact same problem, I can download the file named "ddohigh" or "ddostandard" but when I open it it starts downloading a little bit and stops. I'm running a Windows 7 64 bits.
I'm currently trying to download ir from steam, as soon as download is complete I'll try to install it and report back.

Same problem for me, have installed ddo on several pc's before including the one i am trying to install it on now following a clean system boot. Goes through initial process including pando media booster but once downloading main game bit rate just drops down to zero.

*edit* just installed via steam, didn't try the download through dd.com again so can't verify whether the OP or my inability to download continues.

same problem here.. I tried two different computers and two different networks. I also tried a direct wire (stupid I know). Still nothing... whoever thought it was a great idea to let their customers download their software by p2p only should be bag tagged.

I posted about this earlier this evening, before finding this thread. I cannot download the game, period, from www.ddo.com, and I'm having the same issues trying as others are reporting in this thread.

This should obviously be fixed ASAP. Not allowing potential customers to get the game at all has a predictably chilling effect on efforts to get new customers.

Looks like loading through Steam is working. I presume Steam holds its own copy, which implies it is something to do with the ddo.com version.

I just hope I havent got to use Steam everytime to play though.......

    Will provide an update later

EDIT: Doing it through Steam works fine. So looks llike some issue with the ddo.com version :-(

Yeah, me too. Interestingly, as I recall, a while back Turbine switched from the "Pando Media Accelerator" to a new distribution method called "Happy Cloud". So instead of ddostandard/ddohigh, we should be getting something like DDO_Progressive_1.<numbers>.exe.

But all the download links are to the Pando one, which I think they officially switched away from about a year ago. Wondering whether the "about a year" is significant in that, say, they're no longer paying Pando to host seed servers for it, and you now need the Happy Cloud downloader. Which I can't find.
    Yes, that seebs.

Yeah i am having the same problem. Bad weekend to buy a new hard drive. I went through all the troubleshooting suggestions on both the forums and Pando website. This is not a problem with the OP's network or computer.

    Default Cant download from www.ddo.com

I am have the same issue, cant download from www.ddo.com, both standard/high res. Downloaded the loader from Pando, then tried downloading again, still cant download. But currently downloading from Steam. I too, hope I don't have to use Steam every time I want to play. Will get back, after I am done downloading from Steam, if it works.

This is utterly ridiculous. Getting rid of an downloader that is outdated by a year should be common sense knowledge, but then again, cant blame turbine for not making common sense decisions, since they even managed to forget to pay for their own domain last time.

One more to the list "Had to reinstall, and the download on www.ddo.com don't work".

I want DDO to be a better game. Those are my personal suggestions on: Ammunition, Archmage, Combat Stances, Deities, Dispel Magic, Epic Destiny Map, Fast Healing, Favor, Favored Enemy, Half-elf Enhancements, Monk Kensai, Monk Stances, Past Life, Potency, Potions, Ranger Spells, Summons, Tiered Loot.

I submitted a bug report, using the "Submit a Bug" link at the top of the forum. The sooner they get a bunch of these bug reports, the sooner they'll probably figure out this is a serious problem and fix it.

I'm kind of embarrassed for Turbine that they haven't got better processes in place for handling such a basic requirement for ensuring that new potential customers avoid early, unpleasant experiences ...

The game client can't be downloaded from the company website for a F2P game? Say what?

Default Can be downloaded from Steam

After having problems with downloading from WWW.DDO.COM , I download from Steam. Downloaded fine. Steam did not create a shortcut so I had to go find the launcher. It took a little bit to find it. Mine was located here, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dungeons and Dragons Online\dndlauncher.exe". After creating the shortcut, I can run the game without having to be logged into steam to play. I hope this helps you guys out.

And shame on you Turbine, how do you expect people to start playing DDO, if it is so complicated to download the game in the first place. If I wasn't a die hard DDO player, I could see how this would be very frustrating and people might give up trying to start playing. Suggestion, cut out the middle man, and make it easier for people to download.

Its amazing after all these years of playing that it seems like there's always something going wrong. What a clusterfudge.

The shareholders and board of directors of Turbine should start by getting rid of the useless CEO, who is driving this company to the ground.
