I've stayed logged in over 10 hours without any issue many times.

I generally can't over 3 hours due to the memory leak making the game unplayable if I play normally (and do multiple questS)

but I just farm one quest for a very long time (to avoid loading more assets), Yea I can stay in pretty much all day with mouse wheel working fine, long as I never use a bag.

It's just the memory leak makes the bug far more likely to happen upon opening a bag, as it does with many lag related bugs.

Thanks, I will give it a run tonight and gather some fraps to give the devs.

I have experienced this many times as Shade describes. Usually restart the game to get rid of it. Very annoying.

    Please fix it.

Default This happens to me every single game session

and it's not only annoying, it can be downright terrible and ruin certain quests where I need to zoom in or out rather than be plastered to my character's rear.

Fixing this would really be nice. Thanks for the comprehensive summary, Shade.

This is one of the few things, along with zoning between certain quests and explorer areas(due to memory leak or whatever that particular bug is), that FORCES me to go through the process of shutting down and restarting DDO.

For whatever reason, my fraps only recorded the back buffer.

However, I have narrowed it down to one or two steps.
    1. Open your bag, scroll in the bag.
    2. Double click any item to remove it from your bag.

Persists across all characters until you log out of the game.

    Bug submitted as stated above.

It used to annoy me, but then I learned how to use '7' and '9' on the numpad. Haven't really cared about it since.

They prolly took the use of the words "I learned" as an attempt to say they were stupid and couldn't figure out the workaround.

That said, there are workarounds for all kinds of things; but like the other forum thread that just started this morning, I am tired of having to remember all the workarounds for game play, for building characters around bugs, for avoiding getting stuck in the environment, for adjusting to the failures to cast or execute commands on the action bar, etc. Seems like the game's now one big workaround.

This has led to some sensitivity - I called it MMO PTSD the other day.

I love my wheel too much to switch to using numeric keys. Plus they are bound to more actionable goodies, like hotbar slots.

Reproducible case to break mouse-wheel without using a bag at all:

    1. Create 32 characters on one account (VIP or with Shared Bank).
    2. Log into each character, open bank, close bank, log out.
    3. Mouse wheel will break at some point (for me, usually after 12-15 character log in/log outs.)

I have that many or more slots, and have had no problems with mouse wheel activities when I would use them to offload BTA items for their builds.

+1 to Shade, I feel so... unclean.

I've experienced this very annoying bug many times and had to restart the client, but never tracked it down to the capturing of the scroll wheel by a container object. Good job to you and your minions for figuring this out and documenting how to reproduce it.

Oh thank god this is finally getting addressed.

I have to admit it never occurred to me that the problem was with the bags - the trend I noticed was that it seemed to happen anytime I interacted with crafting ingredients to any great degree.

Which naturally means, you know, using the bags a lot

Jumping on the bandwagon of, "This happens a fair bit to me, but I'd never paid enough attention to figure out why."

    Thanks Shade.

I experience this often after transfering some stuff from my ingredient bag to the shared bank or vice versa and then switching to another character. Usually only after two or three character switches, but somethings it takes only one.

I've had this happen to me far too many times to count, and mostly on my crafter. The only time I have to deal with this on my non crafting characters is when I open my bags to pass collectables and ingredients to my crafter.

Interestingly, I also experience a massive amount of lag and stuck time IRL when my fiancee opens her bag... Unfortunately, I do not believe that issue will ever be resolved.

This issue is way beyond its expiration date. It's extremely annoying to have to restart my game every time this happens. Some serious and fast attention to this issue would be greatly appreciated.

This bug affects me heavily as I use a single hotbar setup with mousewheel scrolling, so it's not something I can just put up with for a while. I had the cause narrowed down to something happening in the crafting hall but didn't spot the bag link - it makes perfect sense, I'll test that out tonight.

My pointer hardware is a Logitech wireless trackball. At least once I was able to fix the problem by unplugging the wireless USB transmitter and re-inserting it, but this solution proved unreliable and I now restart the client as a matter of course.

Do Mac or Linux users experience this issue?
