I am not happy about these changes but I will say that Cordovan has always been very supportive, I will not direct Ire at him for something that is out of his hands. He has tried many times to back up us who work hard at promoting DDO and Turbine period, he has come on our shows, done interviews and helped a lot of people out.

Cordo & Tolero were one of us at one point. They may wear the colors of the suits now, but let's try to avoid shooting the messengers.

I'm gonna give our messengers the benefit of believing they're doing all they can to send our opinions back up the chain to HOPEFULLY get someone up there to listen.


That said, I'm fully agreeing with all the points being made here and other threads. Adding (again) from my own perspective, concern that the new Vbulletin setup will make our forums more like the mess that the LOTRO forums are.

The forums are going to be upgraded to a newer version of vBulletin. After the upgrade, you will use your DDO game login credentials to log into the forums, and your current forum name will become your display nickname. You will retain all of your existing posting history, reputation, etc. If you're new to the forums, you'll be able to select a display nickname the first time you log into the forums with your game credentials. Other notable changes include:

Cool updating to the latest version will be nice

The forum styling/appearance will be updated.

We will be adding a new forum home page that includes forum category navigation and feeds of recent turbine announcements/recent player discussions. We will also be opening individual class forums again.

The reputation system will be revamped to allow only positive reputation to be issued.

The Neg rep system was fairly pointless anyways...any time it was necessary the report button was a much better option

Our bug reporting system is being revamped. Soon you will no longer need a forum login in order to submit bug reports, and we will be able to process bug reports more quickly. We will update the bug reporting links as soon as the new system is available. Please continue to use the existing bug reporting tool until the new one is in place, as we are still reviewing bugs submitted through it.

There was a good run down of this during the Pax Party interview...sounds like it will be much more effecient...good stuff

The DDO Compendium will be discontinued. We will be migrating official guides to the updated DDO.com website. Users with guides or guild pages in the Compendium should migrate their content to another location, such as the guides or recruitment forums.

No reason to have this with DDOWiki around eh

Several MyDDO components will be moving to DDO.com or retiring. Details are as follows:


The current player blog functionality will be discontinued. We are investigating ways of bringing blogging to players in the community site, but in the meantime existing player blogs can be exported for use at a later time. Exporting your blog will create an XML file containing all your blog entries, comments, and images, which can be imported into a variety of blogging platforms. For a guide to how to export your blog, click here!

Character and guild data will be discontinued. Please note that this will also impact any systems that rely on character data including guild leaderboards, challenge leaderboards, and API functionality.

Since this stuff was almost never used it was just a waste of space anyways

The lottery system will also be discontinued. We will be focusing on giving prizes via other mediums such as forum and social media giveaways.

This system was a PITA anyways the free silver roll is much better...also more forum based give-aways FTW

I've never personally had a issue with the Character Copy Tool but I know alot of people do so it's nice to see it being worked on...as for the referral system..never used it...really should have though since I've introduced like 10ish people to the game (who play regularily and spend TP) I'd have SOOOO much TP

So in short a bunch of cool Quality of Life improvements as well as ditching some dead weight...nothing but positives here

If you are going to do this then i want a mobile authenticator. This is the only game that does not have one.

Name the games, non blizzard, that do, as the only one based in the US that I'm aware of is Blizzard for their battlenet accounts.

edit: Ah, Apps on iphone. EA and GW2. I never considered those to be mobile authenticators, but guess so.

edit2: Didn't see any for PW games though. You'd have thought they would do that.

It's not a true Old Republic game (beyond being star wars related its as different as DDO is than Neverwinter), It's Generic and its so called F2P is a JOKE!! Biowares story-telling...pretty awesome as usual but the game itself is so pretty much WoW w/ Lightsabers...if you love wow and love lightsabers...its perfect for you...If you hate WoW it doesn't matter how much you love Star wars

I applaud most of the announced changes. There is some collateral damage, but that's to be expected and acceptable IMO.

The one item that can and should be changed is the shared login/password between game and forums. I will no longer participate in the forums or submit bug reports if these are not broken apart.

Your display name in the forums will only be identical to your login IF you make the silly decision to make them so.

I don't think that this change will have a major effect on the security environment of the game and the forum -- but even so, there's no reason why you couldn't make a free/premium game account JUST for the purpose of participating in forum discussions, if you did feel that worried about it ...

Unlikely. DDO Store uses that browser.

But that doesn't mean they will make it available again for other purposes ... (I'd guess that the darn thing is a source of lag, anyway)

With the exception of the store it is pretty much gone. I know you can still open it with ctrl+D but I expect that will vanish next update/patch.
