Well I can say I am not surprised, I do think it sucks that those individuals that spent so much time building great tools for the community, like YourDDO, DDO Lottery Watcher, DDO Viewer to name a few, will no longer be able to showcase their work. And without a way for these tools and other to continue to be able to work then there is less incentive for anyone else to build any new tools.
So kill myDDO, fine whatever, but please make it so people still have some way of creating cool tools for the community to use.
BTW, what does this mean for the in-game browser?

Hi there, I kinda just threw up in my mouth when I read this, so pardon the bad breath.
Please don't do this. Its not that I don't trust turbines security code, but, well I don't.
We have already seen how secure the linked forum/game account info, supposedly protected by turbine, is when you had the LOTRO debacle last year. To proactively remove another layer of security from the game is asinine. Its idiotic.
Do not do this. I implore you. You (you being turbine - not you personally) will mess this up. Based on the track record so far, its almost impossible that it wont get bjorked.
Looks like the are planning to kill player blogs and My Lotro as well.

Translation: We are going to make the forums look like absolute **** while allowing hackers better chances to crack your account. After all that worked SO WELL on the LOTRO side of things.
Oh and don't worry, any leaks to your personal information will be ignored just as much as it was before.
I dislike this. Call me paranoid but I really don't want to be logging to the forums with game credentials on public computers...
Also why kill the myddo data completely, kill the site sure but surely making the data available in some easy format for 3rd party sites/software wouldn't be too difficult. I really liked how EVE Online for example handled API keys, community made some pretty awesome programs with it like EVEmon.

This a **** shame. Many enjoyed blogging, as well as reading those blogs. To do away with those without even a plan for future blogging? Bad form.
This will kill a large part of YourDDO, as well as my own guilds roster on our site. Once again, bad form.
Did we really expect any less after they hired someone from Zynga? Bad form X3 Turbine.

Why not just kill the whole thing?
The forums were better before we had the system at all, and now if you are going to make it just Positive Rep, we'd be better off going back to being without it. If you are changing the forums enough to change the way Rep works... just turn the whole **** thing off and call it a failed experiment along with MyDDO.
And, again, I say this from atop the Rep heap.
It's a bad system, and just removing Neg Rep won't make it all that much better.
