Default Additional item slot for Artificer and Druid companions.

How about adding an additional item slot for the Artificer homonculi and Druid wolves?

Maybe a "universal" item slot that you can add any single non-armor or collar item. Being able to slot an epic item with augments or something like the Purple Dragon Gauntlets with 30% Healing Amp, or the Adamantine Cloak of the Bear/Wolf could go a long way towards making them more survivable and useful.

Please, show the poor puppies some love.

    /Signed.

Either that or give us some Druid Wolf/Arti Dog only Armours/Docents.

The pet basically needs Heavy Fort, more if possible (Mine uses a Leaves of the Forest), but that leaves no room for anything else.

Good ideas but I would much rather they get the pets working properly first.

Personally I'd like to see a Helmet Slot and Trinket slot added, and maybe 1 ring.

Trinkets because they make sense its a trinket it should fit on them. Same with a ring.

    Helmet for 2 reasons:

    1. Almost every fantasy battle animal gets a cool fantasy helm. Look at medieval horse armor for inspiration. My dog deserves armor to protect its head.

2: So we could have Dragon Armor sets on them. The docents are extremely nice for them and the helmet for the set bonus and slots would be nice.

While were on the subject. Please give named armors a unique look to the dogs/wolves skins. For the dragon scale docents and light armor put a dragon scale pattern on them. Red Racing stripes don't exactly scream out White Dragon Scale Docent. And horned Dragon helmets on the dogs and Wolves would look awesome.

A trinket at a minimum would be nice. What do you think we do in real life? We stick trinkets (tags) on their collar. Cats have tags, let alone bells.

Also given how many trinkets are craftable in game, Turbine could make a few TP off that also.

Necklace OR Trinket, Helm, Claws (renamed from Collar), and Docent. Maybe make an argument for Bracers.

BYOH. Know it, abide by it, or don't mess with those who do.

Barding. War dogs wore barding, same as war horses.

I do not agree with the OP's suggestion. I've yet to see a houndish creature that could wear gloves or boots and not look/feel/be completely ridiculous.

The reason pets have 2 equipment slots is that is what they could wear. A collar (for weaponry oddly enough) and armor (or barding if you prefer Kilbar).

Inclusion of a trinket and maybe a helm or belt sound ok to me. Rings, boots, gloves, and cloaks are all a bridge too far IMO. I would have gotten behind necklaces but collars supplanted them.
I can be found on Orien as Cilon

Rings could go on the ears. The point isn't what the animal would look like with the gear on. I'm certainly not asking for new skins for their appearance. It's just about providing one utility slot that you could put any item on for the stats/benefits.

    And what's wrong with cloaks?

As far as I can tell, enchanted rings don't work on the ears or characters would be using them.

Ever see a REAL animal wear a cloak? I have. It isn't pretty. The cloak gets all tangeled up under them.

    That's a cool idea.

They could have one "Bauble" spot, and you could convert any one clothing or jewelry item to fit there, in the same way that handwraps are converted to collars.

I think you failed a joke save. Like I said, it's not at all about appearance but utility.

Actually years ago in the era of 2nd Ed there was an article in an issue of dragon that suggested ways to both mess with players and give those poor often sacrificed animal companions oomph by using an alterante roll system to see what kind of animal a given peice of gear might be meant for. Elven chain mail crafted for a war dog for example well suited my cooshee. It also explained in detail that items like amgic rings do not need to be worn on fingers, but it wont bypass the no more then 2 magic rings worn limit still because its not about where its worn, but the interaction of magical energies and your own body. Why do you think my characters all wore **** rings of regen, very last place a looter is going to search for a magical ring that brings me back from being chopped into little bits.

So really yes animals should have just as many gear slots as people actually, and its very bias of Turbine to not let us gear them up better to be more useful especially in epic content.

They definitely need an extra equipment slot or two.

What I would love to see is the ability to use hotbar slots for their equipment, either on mine or the pets hotbar. Best would be being able to drag from the character's backpack to the pets hotbar. Dragging an item equipped on the pet to the character's hotbar would be great also.

I could not get either to work when I tried.

They still do actually, Ive seen videos of dogs hunting boar wearing kevlar vests along with thick plate and spiked collars to protect them from being goared.

If you love your animal as most who own them do, wouldnt you want to keep them safe as possible as they fight along side you?

I know I would and suspect kilbar here feels the same.

I am no programmer and know it cant be exactly easy to get things done in an MMO, but when I think of some of the amazing mods people have done for games like elder scrolls, fallout 3, Mount&Blade and others all on their own time for fun and put up on modder sights for all to use for free, it astounds me men who make a living off of this cant seem to do as well as many who are often still in school for it and using the modding as practice or even class projects.

Personally Id require people working at turbine to be directed by veteren PnP gaming basement dwelling 45 year old children then whoever it is directing them these days.
