    Unhappy Elven Arcane Fluidity IV

Wiki says I should be able to get it, but despite redoing my enhancements Elven Arcane Fluidity IV did not show. Do drow no longer get it?

I checked my full elf and it got it in its list. I could not roll a new drow to see if I was mistaken since I have full slots >_<

Stupid question: is your drow at least lvl 14?

Other dumb question: what the heck are you trying to equip that requires that much ASF reduction anyway?!

Not tried myself, however, a couple weeks back I grouped with a sorc who had 1 level of arti. He was wearing epic cavalry plate. When I asked about asf, he mentioned the drow enhancements and said that for some reason he was unable to get the 4th enhancement despite wiki saying otherwise. His solution was to slot an asf augment. -10% one. Can't recall if he said he slotted it on the armour or on his fanion shield.

    Hope that's of some help.

I used the augment to lower it. Augment does not stack with itself, so putting it also on shield wont lower the shield ;\ I have 9% spell failure.

If the enhancement does not exist they should correct the wiki but if the enhancement is bugged for drow, I will have to send a ticket to get a response. I just wanted to make sure I am not only one or if anyone could test it if on enhancement list.

DDO compendium say only half-elf and elves.

Default Artificers get medium armor proficiency

So artificer is already nice in that respect for his build, but he'd still need to spend a whole six action points plus upgrade his ASF blue augment to a 15% one to be able to get to 0% ASF with Cavalry plate on, which I feel is a pretty large expenditure for not a large payoff.

    Breakdown:
Cavalry plate (mithral versions)= 25% ASF
    -15% sapphire of spell agility
-10% medium armor ASF elven arcane fluidity III

Besides flavor considerations, demonic Shield and superior false life are pretty tough to fit in on a sorcerer, so I can see some plain benefits for this route, but as a sorcerer he's already going a fleshy route which means that he has no quickened SP healing/reconstruction so he probably doesn't want to get hit at all, let alone try and rely on guard-based damage mitigation.

If one is dead-set on playing an arcane gish that's not warforged, I would still recommend using robes just so that you can pump up dodge as high as possible. With robes, a large shield (Bulwark of the Storm's Fist ML25 with PRR+15, the highest you can get on an item currently) and as much dodge as possible + displacement + incorporeality, you will probably get the most damage mitigation for your buck.

As an arcane you will never get very much AC even with maximum/gimping investment, so even using something like Shadowmail is already capping some valuable dodge potential (though at MDB 12 I think an 18/xx arcane will already have trouble reaching the cap). A tower shield will cap this further so the most I'd probably go is EE Shadowmail + ML25Bulwark.

If you have a BTA Treasure Hunter's Spyglass available, that's a nice place to slot your arcane agility sapphire. Other than that, a BTC one works very well too because you can choose from a variety of armors and shields and know that their spell failure will always be dealt with, whereas slotting it directly on the armor or shield ties you to that singular piece of equipment.

All my toons are gimpy Drow, and none of them have the ability to go above Elven Arcane Fluidity III themselves...
    Fylakas ??* Fylakia ??* Fyl ??* Drfyl
    ??* Thelanis ??* Storm Lords ??*
??* Go Elf or go home ??*
