I've played DDO for about a year now, and I thought I'd make some comments on my favorite build: The Bowmaster. Link.
I'm stuck at a point of divegence between two different playstyles for this build at higher levels.

The point of this build is a strong archer, with both Arcane Archer & Kensei abilities, with good melee capability and durability.

The two main changes are the swapping of the intial Rogue level with a bard level, which unlocks both Use Magical Device and the Bard: Energy of Music enhancement needed for Arcane Archer. The other change is trading out the Wizard level at 10 with a Rogue level for skill points and 1d6+3 Sneak Attack damage.

The second build has a bit more altered to allow for greater melee damage at endgame without sacrificing much:

The initial Bard level was discussed above. The second Bard level at 10 allows Bard Wand/Scroll Mastery I, to aid the effect of the wands, and later scrolls, you can use to self-heal. The six levels in Barbarian (with enhancements) allow for four rages per day which each grant +6 Strength, +5 Constitution and +2 Will saves at the cost of -4 AC. Also this build can max out its Jump score. The other abilities of a sixth-level Barbarian (Uncanny Dodge, Fast Movement, Damage Reduction 2/- and Trap Sense +2) aid your survivability.

Skills:

The reason for the seemingly odd skill points for Jump & Tumble in both builds is the fact that these builds have Epic Destinies in mind. For an archer, the natural (and fun) ED is Shiradi Champion. The real reason for the odd skill points is abilities is the Twists of Fate intended to complement this build: Shadowdancer's Tier I Acrobatic III, Grandmaster of Flower's Tier I Perfect Balance III and Magister's Tier I Unearthly Reactions III. These together grant 12 Jump, 12 Tumble, 6% Dodge, +6 Reflex saves (with an additional +9 Reflex saves while tumbling). With the +5 to all skills via 5 Epic level and the Heroic skill ranks results in 36 Tumble and 38 or 40 Jump (depending on build). Also this is only 6 Fate points, which will be earned moving about the ED grid to Twist them. I did the math.

The 36 ranks in Tumble allow forward dives which, when combined with the Magister Unearthly Reactions III, allow you to navigate the battlefield with impunity. (Unearthly Reactions III allows you to pass through enemies when tumbling.) The ranks in Diplomacy tie into this, letting you shed aggro and retreat to a safe position to shoot form. The 38-40 Ranks in Jump let you reach high points away from enemies or traverse the many gaps required by quests without needing a buff.
