This is mine, it is mainly for you to easily see the numbers, you could change them any way you like.

    ----------------------------

tp to dollar ratio = 100:1 (5,000 tp/$50 tp code, since this is what people use to trade)
tp to shard ratio = 5:1
tp to plat ratio = 1:1000

So here it goes, currencies from higher value to lower value:

    $1 = 20 shards = 100 tp = 100,000 plat

    Therefore plat per shard = 100,000/20 = 5,000 plat

    ----------------------------

I usually don't think about these numbers while in game, because almost everything that cost shards is too costly, without a thought.

Example: First Level 1 hire on the list in Korthos costs 1 shard, so it's at least 1:1 ratio.

I can go on and on, but you get the idea.

The OP is a rough guide that makes some assumptions, mainly that 1 raid bypass = 200k plat, and that you have roughly equal access to time and money. For instance, is an EE Bastion worth 2mill plat = 1,500tp = 250as?

If you are an unemployed teenager on summer vacation, you have a lot more time than money. Farming 2mill plat in game is trivial (ransack chests! boring but reliable source of plat), but buying $15 worth of TP would be a waste of precious or non-existent cash.

If you are a professional family-man whose near every waking hours are indentured to work and family, then hours online are precious. Dropping $15 (or even $50) is trivial when you charge your clients $300/hr and you pad your billable hours. But an hour ransacking chests for 250k plat worth of loot, nevermind wasting 8 hours farming 2mill plat is inconceivable.

If you are a powergamer, then you can acquire rare and valued commodities in-game. You might not even "pay" for an EE Bastion; instead trading an EE Forgotten Light you happen to have looted. You can make plat incidentally without having to "farm" it per se, and can acquire plat, tp, astral shards by selling, trading, or auctioning items.

Ultimately, an equivalence between game currencies is determined by your RL circumstances and in-game playstyle.

"Indentured"? Not sure I can approve of your word choice

What about the professional family-man who hasn't as much time to play as he wants, and whose waggro mitigation strategy is to keep ddo off the radar by keeping it off the expense books? Speaking from experience, he's SOL!

prior to the opening of the black market I started a similar thread and we had come to the following conclusion:

    5.6 TP = 1 AS = 6Kpp (roughly)

and so far that math is holding very true for Khyber.
