30 Shards - 195 TP ~ 6.5 TP per shard
100 Shards - 595 TP ~ 6 TP per shard
500 Shards - 2795 TP ~ 5.5 TP per Shard

Pretty commonly accepted terms:
2.5 Million Plat - 1,550 TP = 1,612 Plat per TP
4 Million Plat - 2,500 TP = 1,600 Plat per TP
8 Million Plat - 5,000 TP = 1,600 Plat per TP

Therefore:
1 Astral Shard = 9,600 Plat (Say 10k plat for ease of calculation)
100 Shards = 1 Million Plat
1,000 Shards = 10 Million Plat

Someone has posted EE Iron Beads on the new Shard for 500 bid /1000 buyout. That means: 5 Million bid/10 million plat buyout.

EH Items are out there for 800-900 Shards. (8-9 mill plat). You wouldn't get 2 million on the AH for these items.

Not trying to say people are trying to gouge or anything. Just think that people don't understand the value of the shards.

Aye I don't like where Turbine is taking us on this front, hopefully I am wrong but seems like AS and tp codes is the only new currency that will have any value. Guess they took a look at companies like PWE etc and liked what they saw...

although as long as AS are not excgangeable betwwen players it will never become the preferred currency. If the do in fact want it to become defacto currency they will allow trade betwwen players using it. At present it is more like a banana republic currency due to the insane capital controls. why would anyone want to hoard AS today unless the probability is it will become exchangable between players.

All my astral shards are going towards our guild airship.

Will spin the silver wheel once a day, and wander off.

Hoping to dump some bound to character due to deconstructing shields
with large guild slots on them, but not sure that is gonna be possible.

If you have an alt, you can also shift items too them.

Since its only btcoe items, this is useful for i) respecs - change class/etc or ii) more like upgrades: use the EH Ghost Waking or Dream Visor now, once you get the EE version sell/transfer the EH one to one of your other toons.

Potentially via an alt, since I'm not sure if you can sell on one toon and buy on another from the same account.

Yes, I am a bit surprised myself to be honest. This morning I actually tried to cancel one of the auctions because I thought I had mispriced them and wanted to relist it at a lower price. Much to my surprise I got an "error" message that I couldnt cancel the auction due to it having a bid. At that time the item had a 700 min bid going while the other had 600 min bid. About 2 hours later they were both sitting at 750 each. Either someone wanted to secure a bid position or two (or more) parties were involved in bidding.

I am not going to moralize over how people spend their money since a) I'm in no position to do so being the "evil used car salesman" :-) and b) because I have no right to argue over how other people spend their money. All in all I am happy to see my items sell, but for later auctions I will for certain adjust my prices downwards a bit. I have some more items thats going on the SE but since my shard balance right now is zip I have to wait :-)

EH Blue helmet with the right stat is highly sought after. And if it is correct that Turbine nerfed droprates further then it will be a hard item to find. People have already been paying 2500 TP codes and up for many of the best items and I've heard some outrageous prices after U17. Like Globes of Imperial Blood trading for 5000 TP code + Otto Box (10.000 TP).

I guess some people just have the means and the desire to get the best equipment for their character and I respect that. But it does leave me a bit dumbstruck seeing some of the prices.

1. Like in any banana republic when the central bank decides to replace its currency with a new one, there is a lot of repricing in the market.

2. AS market is the easy button for that item that is not on the AH, or for those that don't have oodles of plat, or for those that don't want to go through the TPlat exchange process. One would expect premium pricing for that easy button.

3. The steep house cut on bound gear just adds to the inflation.

Now who is taking wagers and at what odds on when AS become exchangeable between players?
