If you have an alt, you can also shift items too them.

Since its only btcoe items, this is useful for i) respecs - change class/etc or ii) more like upgrades: use the EH Ghost Waking or Dream Visor now, once you get the EE version sell/transfer the EH one to one of your other toons.

Potentially via an alt, since I'm not sure if you can sell on one toon and buy on another from the same account.

Was a good way to transfer 2 blank GS items I had mistakenly bound on two other characters on my account. But there is always the risk of an intercept, that somebody picks up your transfer item before you are able to grab it on the second character.

Great post and pretty much what I had boiled it down to myself.

I have 2 items on the AE right now at 600/1000 (ins char +3 trinket BtC) and 700/1000 (White Helm +3 ins con not bound). I know its in the upper region of what to expect (hence the lower min bid) but for me its the AE cut that is the problem.

My playing has become more erratic lately so it was better to put them on the AE than to try and trade via the forum.

Turbine should allow trade of Seals/Shards on the AE to broaden the use of the shards.

EDIT: Just a little update, both my items now sits at 750 bid which means both items have actual bids on them for 750. So it would seem people are willing to pay. 1000 is probably a bit over the top, but it seems smart to set the min bid at half the buyout or thereabouts.

Lol. people paying 7.5 million plat for these items. That would be like trading them for a 5000 TP code or an Otto Box. I'm some people will make huge mistakes. If they had offered a 2500 TP code for either of those two items straight up, they would be flooded with offers. And that's only about 450 shards. Instead, they pay almost double...

Yes, I am a bit surprised myself to be honest. This morning I actually tried to cancel one of the auctions because I thought I had mispriced them and wanted to relist it at a lower price. Much to my surprise I got an "error" message that I couldnt cancel the auction due to it having a bid. At that time the item had a 700 min bid going while the other had 600 min bid. About 2 hours later they were both sitting at 750 each. Either someone wanted to secure a bid position or two (or more) parties were involved in bidding.

I am not going to moralize over how people spend their money since a) I'm in no position to do so being the "evil used car salesman" :-) and b) because I have no right to argue over how other people spend their money. All in all I am happy to see my items sell, but for later auctions I will for certain adjust my prices downwards a bit. I have some more items thats going on the SE but since my shard balance right now is zip I have to wait :-)

People laugh - but Turbine is high-fiveing themselves over how much they have made on selling astral shards even after 1 day i bet.

On Ghallanda - some guildies were watching and shaking their heads at some of the prices people were posting for....except a lot was selling, even stuff for 1000 shard buyouts.

I posted a couple things - had 3 Astral Diamonds left over from some loot I saved - and by the time I finished posting 10 items and ran back to the mailbox, my EH Blue Dragon helm had already sold - within like 2 minutes - for a 900 shard buyout.

So I posted a bunch of other stuff. But people are clearly buying a huge whack of shards if the insane buyouts are any indication(and by that I mean stuff that actually gets bought out) - so yeah Turbine is loving this.

EH Blue helmet with the right stat is highly sought after. And if it is correct that Turbine nerfed droprates further then it will be a hard item to find. People have already been paying 2500 TP codes and up for many of the best items and I've heard some outrageous prices after U17. Like Globes of Imperial Blood trading for 5000 TP code + Otto Box (10.000 TP).

I guess some people just have the means and the desire to get the best equipment for their character and I respect that. But it does leave me a bit dumbstruck seeing some of the prices.

That's 2795 TP x 2 = 5590 TP for an EH helm. You could get an Otto's box and have 100 astral shards (595 TP) for that. People trade 8 million plat for 5k TP. That's just nuts to pay that much for an EH helm.
