Waiting to see if someone buys the freshly listed +5 Blazing of a Thousand Suns Khopesh that's up for a couple thousand shards.

Here's the thing, I've not bought a single AS, I've had as many as 2000 of them at a time probably around 4000 total brought in. and most of that is from selling EN end chain GH rewards... In addition to pulling 1 White dragon helm EH, and one Ancient band EE and selling those, I by no means "farm" eGH I barely play it. I've pulled a couple maybe three decent items and gotten about 5 end chain rewards across a couple alts. So someone who's running these for loot a couple times a night or even ransacking is probably amassing tens of thousands of shards by now, selling eGH loot.

As for what people spend it on? I am lousy with Tome pages, I buy twink items for dribs and drabs like Ethereal bracers or lvl 15 Wall of Wood or like Troll cloaks (green and yellow slots) Chord of reprisals (green and yellow slots again) cheap tome pages... and a shockingly cheap assortment of +3 tomes for all my alts.

If you can't think of what to spend AS on I think you're not trying, or you're so pimped out that nothing DDO has to offer you is interesting for any price or any currency. In which case -- don't take this wrong -- but who cares about you you're not the player this stuff is aimed at, just put your nose up in the air and move along

I honestly think that aside from the extra storage issue, a great many people actually have no idea how much shards are worth, either in tp or irl money equivalents, and just pick a number and go.

Again, they aren't worth TP or irl money. They aren't worth a single thing.

There are three different groups here. 1.) People who struggle to get Astral Shards and have very few. 2.) People who buy Astral Shards from the store. 3.) People who have accumulated a massive amount of Astral Shards for free. People who put high-priced items on the ASAH aren't targeting groups one and two. They are targeting group number three, who has an endless pile of Astral Shards just sitting there. The other day, I bought a pair of lacerating handwraps for 175 Astral Shards. Why? Because I didn't feel like switching over to my bank toon. What did this cost me? Not a thing, because I have this pile of Astral Shards sitting there with no use. So while you see them as having a TP or irl money value, I don't, because, well, they don't. They're so worthless to me that I'll freely spend them so as to not waste a minute of time.

Yes, however, when I'm pricing things, I still keep a respectful thought on the issue that without someone buying shards, those masses of shards people obtained for free by selling things were paid for by someone (not all of them come in huge sweeping dd lotto wins after all) and I try to keep it reasonable and sane.
