So I went in, saw the Daily Dice, and rolled a couple golds...

Then on the third or fourth character I was told "You do not have enough shards".

I had no idea I was spending shards. Just how many did I spend and when?

Also, I can supposedly put todays roll toward a gold instead of rolling a silver, how in the world do I know how much I am putting toward the gold and how much I need?

I had no intention of spending shards at least without my permission.

It's a minor thing I guess, but I feel as if all my shards were just taken without my permission, especially if these shards are something you "buy" with real $$ in the end.

There is a very small blue shard with a number on it (3 for silver, 15 for gold) right under the big all caps "ROLL!". It's pretty subtle and there is no confirmation or explanation that you're actually spending that count of shards if you click roll. The user interface is less player friendly than Turbine friendly...

So its not free each day. Lovely. It -looked- free.

I think Turbine ought to award 3 free shards per day so everyone can participate at some level in the Daily Dice regardless of their "wealth". 3 per day per character would be even better.

I rolled a silver for shards by accident myself. It really is incredibly difficult to see... I'm sure thats by design...

and getting a single collectible? ugh.. come on....

The text in the box says you get one free pull on the silver gambling machine.

I didn't think to check before I pulled it; did it steal shards from me?

I did not want to waste any of my shards on the gambling, I hope it did not, as it said it was free.

If it lied to me I want my shards back. Trading 3 shards for 10 lesser arcane essences is not cool.

If it WAS totally free, then meh. whatever.. It's just another cash grab anyways, specially when mixed with the new auction house.

You do get one free silver roll. After that you'll pay til the next free roll. It is not a very clear or obvious interface and there are *zero* confirmations of cost before you spend cashtral shards when clicking "ROLL!"; for the majority of players who aren't forum lurking, release note salivating people like us, I predict a lot of frustration on the same thing you experienced.

Indeed. Tempted fate and rolled a second time and I got a single Blade of the Dark Six. Woo!

Don't mind getting a free collectible, but at least give us more than one, especially if they are common.

my only issue with it is it should show how many astral shards you have in the box with the daily dice. some people don't know it uses them so they will keep clicking on it and realize later. so i hope turbine does say something in the daily dice about it so people know. they can have a info box down on the bottom of it.

It probably resets at the same time each day like the challenge token vendor. The challenge token vendor resets at 7PM/8PM Eastern (they didn't change for daylight savings last I checked), dunno about free roll yet.

There is be a special symbol on your character hp/sp bar when you've got a free roll available.

Good question - guess I'll find out tomorrow or if someone else takes a screenshot before their free roll today, as I only used a free roll and didn't look carefully before to see if is says "free" under "ROLL!" instead of the 3 shard cost. I would assume there's some visual difference on that part of the UI where the small little shard cost is shown.

It would've been great if it showed I used up m free roll, i accidentally wasted 9 shards because the silver shard roll indicated I was still spending 0. oh and the daily dice icon was still there. nice one turbine...

Daily Dice

Earn daily rewards from the Dungeon Master just for logging in! When you log into the game each day, you'll get a notification that a daily reward is available. The Daily Dice system can be accessed from the start menu, or by clicking the icon that displays in your health bar when a free roll is available (this small icon appears next to the mail icon.)

Each player gets a free roll on the Silver Chest loot table once per day (one free roll per account per server per day), and can spend Astral Shards for additional rolls if desired.

Players can also choose to use their free Silver Chest roll to reduce the cost of a roll on the Gold Chest table. Players can spend Astral Shards to roll on the Gold Chest table.
