Default Plants should be immune to Light damage.

I think plant-based creatures should be immune to light-based damage.

Kind of makes sense. But many plants do suffer from overexposure to light or exposure to intense light.

It would be creative for the devs to make some plant creatures that were healed by light damage.

Too much of a good thing can be bad. Too much light can burn plants.

Why? Yes, I know they need light, but then so do we. Have you never seen what light does to a plant when it gets too much light? Same thing it does do any other water filled living thing, it kills the plant.

It would be rather funny if the plant monsters healed or even grew if we zapped em with light. Would suck for divines though.

    Lasers are industrialized/weaponized light.
Plants may be immune to standard light - but not lasers.

I don't think the spells and weapons we use in DDO would be of the standard variety. Just sayin'.

varying degrees of light resistance could be very easily justified though.

    Way off topic but

Reminds me of what holy berry as storm said in Xmen to toad before she fried him with a lightning bolt.

I think of the light damage casters do as being similar to the effect of a magnifying glass and the sun. Focus it right and it burns, plant or not it burns. mmmmm fire, fire, FIRE =D sorry inner pyro got loose again.

My understanding is that living plant matter doesn't burn any easier than animal matter. In fact animals burn a little better due to the fat and oil content being higher. Dead plant matter is another story.

Yes I'm a pyro I actually knew that.

    Hi,

I have a vegepygmy in my basement at home.

When I've had a bad day at work, I like to zap him with my laser. Judging by the smell and his anguished reactions, he's not immune to light.

    Thanks.

Photographic proof in nature of plants being immune to light.

    Hi,

    Thanks.

This thread reminds me about that famous quote where someone said they didn't become a vegetarian because they liked animals, it was because they hated plants.

you'd think plants would take purple numbers from EVERYthing, but in reality they're more like Bas-Lagian cactacae. I've often wanted to see more plant type monsters in DnD/DDO. Tough sunsabritches.

A SMALL amount of light resistance for plants in general may be warranted, but immunity--no way.

One of these days one of the devs is going to run across tardigrades on Wikipedia and then put giant ones in the game. Shortly thereafter we are all fornicated.
