Default Give Paladins and Rangers More SP

As above. My paladin relies on single-target cure spells, along with the Angelskin (at low levels), Zeal and Divine Favor. All of these see constant use. If my paladin had the same base SP as, say, my Artificer, that would be WONDERFUL!

Same thing with rangers, but strangely they don't have that many DPS-improving spells.

i played a paladin for 3 lives with just a wisdom item and the 2 enhancements required for KOTC. i never ran out of mana between shrines. in the very early levels i could, but i had the Archivist necklace that helped me get to the next shrine. extend helped a lot too.

i play a ranger and his sp is for buffing and spot healing. never really had an issue with him running out of sp, but he also has ROSS, Archivist and Twisted Talisman for emergencies.

if you rely a lot on using sp for healing, i suggest farming for items like i listed above and craft a GS sp item. as a paladin, i would think you would be investing in UMD for heal scrolls. i know its a pain switching scrolls and weapons, but easier on the sp between fights, plus you can chug pots and wand whip for free.

They were given a boost to base SP in U9. They don't need another.

If you really need SPs that badly, spend a feat on Magical Training. Boom, eighty spell points and Echoes of Power.

More SP? My level 23 pure Ranger has between 900 and 1000 Spell Points already depending on Destiny and that's not including her Bauble and Vile Blasphemy gloves. Just don't drop WIS to 8 at character creation and you can have plenty. I started at 10 have a +4 WIS Tome, +6 WIS item, +2 Ship Buff and Greensteel Con Op SP Bracers. It takes time, but it's perfectly doable.

Self healing using SP is not how a Paladin should really be played. Yes it's possible, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing.

Use potions and scrolls. Push up your UMD a little and go for heal scrolls, you'll be much happier.

Heal scrolls can't be quickened. They take an extra second to equip. They only heal a base of 110, and paladins/rangers can't amplify that. They have a six second cooldown.

It's a lot easier to just use spells. A maximized cure serious with a 120 devotion item and 2 of the devotion enhancements averages 129 before any heal amp. Of course there are more ways to get devotion, you can take more enhancements or metamagics, there are ways to fit in spellcasting implement or certain stacking set bonuses to spell power, a few destiny abilities like a tier one enhancement in exalted angel for 30 spell power (easy twist), etc.

Then, cure serious can be quickened so you don't have to run out of combat to use it (or risk a concentration check), that also means you can pop it off a lot quicker, it has a shorter cooldown and it can be alternated with some of the weaker spells when you really need to keep healing going on yourself or if you want to heal yourself and other people at the same time, and nothing is stopping you from making use of both spells and scrolls either.

    This.

Because the difference between 8 & 10 wisdom is an enormously huge 29 SP at level 20+, you should definitely invest these 2 points into wisdom.
Irony aside. Invest into wisdom if you want, but don't say a 2 wisdom difference really contributes to your SP pool... (yes every small thing helps...)

*Shrug* I had a choice between maybe being able to raise another stat by one point (leaving me at an odd number at cap with available gear), or raising WIS and CHA to 10 at startup. Since I build for UMD on all of my chars, I went for the WIS and CHA option.

All that aside, OP, I say again, if you want more Spell Points then build and gear for it. It's perfectly doable.

    Default Nah...more useful spells instead

My pure ranger has between 900 - 1100 depending on destiny. Would much rather see better spells available vs more spell points.

I think the devs should take a good hard look at the Druid spell list and consider giving some to the Rangers.

That would be cool - IF - that could be done without "offending" druids.... That being said, I like the idea of there being clear distinctions between classes.
