    Default Elder Scrolls Online

I'm posting for my own curiosity, due to all the ingame rumblings of late. How many are going to give this a go once it's released? I'd rather not bother with a 4.0 game (*cough*Neverwinter).

Gamespot has a trailer posted here: http://www.gamespot.com/the-elder-sc...video/6402723/

    Cinematics, not gameplay vid ^^

Appease my curiosity on this one, fellow DDO-ites. Please. What level of activity can we expect here?

Has anyone managed to get a Beta invite yet?

Beta invites wont go out til around the end of March. It's in the reading material on the website for that game. Plus it's in the very beginning stages, so it'll start out small with heavy NDA.

Well I am less interested in this than I was NWO and I tried that and already uninstalled so unless they do something really impressive I wont bother and no I didnt like their single player game even a tiny bit.

I've put in for the beta, and really hope I get in. I will likely pick up the game retail if I like what I see/play if I get into the beta.

Elder Scrolls is a fantastic setting, rich in lore and history. Morrowind is still one of the best games I've ever played, and Skyrim is in the top ten. Plus, if they really can bring over, and they've said it's a top design goal, the same build freedom that the single-player games enjoy - then I will likely enjoy it very much for a very long time. Also, this seems like the PvP will have an actual purpose... control of the continent of Cyrodiil with a player raised up to Emperor... then chances are I'll get into that as well.

I like what I've seen and heard about ES:O so far - but the game is a long ways off, and a lot can change between now and then. I'd hate to plunk down money again on a SW:TOR-like game. So, even though I am a huge fan of the single-player games - I need to know a lot more about the MMO before I jump onboard. But, I'm watching with great interest.

I'm with you, Memnir. I filled out a single app, but am not going to get my hopes up about this game. Even though TES has a ton of lore, the game has dumbed down with each addition after Morrowind. So, I expect this game to be easier and even less complex than Skyrim.

I'll wait until release, as I will do for NWO. I alpha/beta tested hardware and software for so many years at different companies I'm just too tired to do it any more, even in a game setting.

Do I have any hopes Elder Scrolls Online will be a replacement for DDO? Not really, but that's just my opinion at this time.

    This game is the Sh*t!

It has one shots to the head! If I aim an arrow to the temple at 100 yards, and my skill in bow and arrow is 90 or better and it hits ,then Dead! Pure and simple. DDO does not do this. Elder scrolls online is going to shelf this game!

It understands sneak and monster AI better than DDO.

It is better than any other mmo ever made, but....

It does not show our weapons in first person, lame!

I hope the devs that run this game/ it fixes bugs from the get go and does not let them persist to become snowball giant bugs that will not and will never be fixed. COUGH!

I was in beta in 2005 when DDO first started and did not like it, but it was the best combat for any game. The only reason I played it and liked it was because I played PnP and loved that game so I thought I would give it a chance. So now the hammer falls and I have to say that DDO is going to have to start from scratch or cut their losses or just be lame. And the Dev's that want to stay with this DDO game are short changing themselves and their careers! Good luck to you all! But once Elder Scrolls comes out. CYA!

Well DDO has met its match with this game.

Time to play the bag pipes when this game launches, DDO is dead.

And so was said about Conan, Aion, SW:TOR, DCUO, Secret World, Guild Wars 2, etc.

I imagine DDO will be fine, no matter what Elder Scrolls Online does, and I say that as somebody who is very interested in ES:O and who very well may jump ship. While DDO isn't a big game - it's a steady one. I think that only Turbine can kill DDO, not any external game that may come along.

This day and age, it's hard to keep up with people. Everyone has smart phones, instant messages, text messages, tweets, facebooks... everything is at our fingertips. How the heck do devs keep up with the short attention spans of the people of today, when technology keeps getting better and better, and more complex?

I was really excited about TES.. but once I learned that there's going to be 6 buttons.. I mean it's the one reason I didn't like GW2 much.. not enough buttons, too repetitive.
Although if it works a little bit like twists in DDO for TES, and you can select 6 of many many different abilities for a dungeon, then it should be fine.

How many buttons for abilities do you get in Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind?

In Skyrim, 2. The others, 1.

Ummm... you can bind the number keys 1-9 to items/abilities in Morrowind. I'd have to double check but I think you can do the same in Oblivion and Skyrim.

Not a fan of the single player game at all but I will give it a look and I would have different expectations of it than I did NWO which I expected to disapoint me and it was worse than I thought since I wont play it even when ddo is down or goes away. I will look at ESO if they give a trial and or I get picked for beta. Who knows I might like it but not if the do rooted combat like most games.

anyone know if the combat is full action fluidity?
atm it seems like it's a lock-on rooted turn-based combat similar to generic MMOs
