Thumbs down Congrats devs, Cove just got worse!!!

I was on my main today and saw a lower level guildie doing cove, since I had an alt the same level I offered to switch over and run it with him. I wasn't worried about compasses since I was just going to buy 2 from the store. when I switched over the DDO store gave me an invalid ID error when I tried to buy a map piece. so I spent about 15 mins killing for the dubloons bought a map but the instance was closed. I waited 2-3 more minutes for the second run but then found out that even though I didn't go into the first instance it took my compass. so now I have no compass again and no way to collect gems and only a few left over dubloons, if your going to change compasses to be taken at the beginning(which I actually thought was a good idea when I read it). how about you wait for some to actually zone in before removing it from their inventory. As always you guys could have a pretty sweet game here if you would spend at least 10 minutes testing your changes before rushing them through. Unsatisfied and PO'ed.

When you say you want to go in it takes the compass, i think it casts a spell on you granting access for 6 min...seems intended you must get in before then. Also i know the cove was really buggered up before they brought it back this might have been part of some workaround god knows. Sucks but it is what it is.

It takes your compass and gives a 3 min "Paid the ferryman" timer as soon as you open the quest dialog window.

Which is a bit odd. Why wouldn't it take it when you zone in? I like to sit with the window open and wait for the leader to activate the instance. 3 min is plenty of time, but its not comfortable to know its ticking while you wait.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

    6 minutes.

However, I entirely agree with your point.

BYOH. Know it, abide by it, or don't mess with those who do.

this took me by complete surprise. hell i lost 5 compasses before i realized it was happening.
in years past it took the compass upon "meeting your quota" in the cove. i guess the devs did like ppl gem farming.
i have to agree this should be made to take the compass upon entering the quest, not simply opening the quest window.

The compass change is a great big nothing. Buy them from the store!? Whuck?

A few minutes of killing stuff in the wilderness is more than sufficient to either get a compass to directly drop (2 days ago, I got 15 compasses in 40 minutes), or get enough doubloons to buy one from the barter box.

Then you do ONE run inside the cove and you have enough gems to buy 100 compasses.
Kobold sentient jewel still hate you.

    ^^ This

Honestly, this change is kind of silly anyways, gem runs are still easy to do. The only thing the change accomplished was making it more difficult for people to get started in cove. The folks doing gem runs already have plenty to keep buying compasses from the box and since it costs 2 gems (out of diamonds/emeralds/star sapphire/star ruby) to get a compass and you earn 70-90 gems per run....yeah kinda pointless.

Let the players doing gem farming keep their 2 gems and let the newer players have an easier time of it. Or better yet, just make it so 1 compass is all you ever need.

It doesn't really make much sense that you lose your compass each run anyways, its not like they explode when you reach the cove.

    1. I can't buy them from the store.

    2. The 2nd run had already started before I found out that my compass had disappeared and that the timer had expired.

    3. I was on my druid and since I use the flaming scims as my main weapons, I have to run around throwing my fire thingie and creeping cold and let my doggie fight.

    4. I had already done this while they were on their first run.

    5. There is no way to buy them I have to either remember to throw them in my shared bank for a toon I don't play and that I never expected to take into the cove, or waste time getting more/switching back to do it. I have 18000 tp, and I want to spend it, at least let me know that they aren't for sale anymore.

    6. TY all for the comments, both nice or critical. I just needed to blow off steam.

BTW: My written English skills are atrocious, I flunked my way through school. If we meet in real life my verbal's are off the scale so I get by on that.
