    Default Trap The Soul spell...

    ... needs a buff.
    It's by far my favorite spell as a (3clr PL) wizard or even on an Earth Savant.

    But HD30 cap is obsolete now, specially with the incoming lvl28 cap...

    I don't care about the soul gems. Keep them as strong souls... I just want to pwn whatever escapes my FoD!!

    And make the sound LOUDER!! It's the NPC version of our Ding!! lol

    I wish they would just let us buy Average Khyber Dragonshards (from a vendor accessible once you reach a certain level perhaps) and not have to go through the carpal tunnel inducing clickfest of crunching them up at the Stone of Change, which is still bugged and requires closing then reopening for each fresh stack. Or just add a new quality of Khyber Dragonshards (along with a HD cap increase), from a vendor only available to Epic level characters.

    Yeah, even if you spend a ton of plat and start with tiny shards, it's work to make the matts.

    And I cannot understand why the Stone of Change has to be so slow. Or why you can crunch whole stacks of one denomination, but not of another (maybe I'm thinking Siberys, but it's a pain). This may be the worse grind in the game.


    I do agree, higher level mobs deserve a cap increase, especially with 3 new epic levels to come.

    Keep an eye on this thread and keep it bumped. Sooner or later, people will start to respond with how they love the 30 HD cap, how much they enjoy crunching the shards, how such complexity makes them feel more 'immersed' in the game and how 'you don't need to spend plat, you can just collect them'. Oh and Arcanes are OP so they must be subjected to punitive arbitrary expense and grind, which is the real reason.

    This was ruled out as a possibilty when they introduced omnistones.

    At least with the gem bug affecting chests, the drop rate on khyber shards is WAY up. I'm crunching 10k khyber fragments every other day or so, instead of every 2-3 weeks like before.

    Last week I spent a bunch of time in normal Lord Of Eyes and farmed up ~150 gems off of the earth elementals for doing the adamantine ritual.
    Kobold sentient jewel still hate you.

    I don't know what you're complaining about - I LOVE the 30 HD cap. It makes things a challenge.

    As for making the shards, stop complaining. If you didn't want to be immersed in the DDO experience you should stick to playing Pac Man. Plus dragonshards drop like nobody's business in the game. You don't need to spend plat - you can just collect them.


    Arcanes are OP anyways. There should be a price to pay for being able to use Trap the Soul so as to keep the game balanced.

    So THAT'S what those things are for?

    I've got 100 of them from a drop. Never bothered to look them up as to what they do, I just kept them around in my inventory.

    I guess I'm gonna have to go do some soul trapping fairly soon...

    With the insanely inflated CRs we see in DDO we should see this 30 HD cap removed.

    Maybe it is my utilitarian nature talking, but in all honesty, soul gems are some of the most underutilized items in the game, with the exception of gems. They need to do something with both to justify having them.

    Since I don't get penalized for carrying gold or plat, gems literally serve no purpose in the game other than to fill up slots that could otherwise go for gear.

    Soul Gems have *some* justification for the expensive and time-consuming materials required to make them. The only problem is that the usable range for these stupid things is kinda narrow. What is the point in creating a weak soul gem if it is not used in the game for anything? Doesn't make a whole lotta sense. And now that armor drops with Trap the Soul built into it, they should be able to do SOMETHING with the gems that drop to justify having the armor in the first place.

    I say: keep the expensive and irritating shard crunching. Make soul gems (and gems in general) a more versitile material in the game.
