Default Do I need to slot Deathblock on a WF HotD Pally?

Brief question, I am now leveling a Warforged character, who will ultimately take 18 levels in Paladin and be keeping the Hunter of the Dead PRE on full time. I am having a bit of a hard time interpreting how the WF and HotD immunities will contribute, and wanted to ask if I am missing anything by not slotting Deathblock somewhere and/or not casting Deathward on myself. Essentially, I am asking if slotting Deathblock and/or casting Deathward will give me any additional benefit (increased protections, immune to something else, etc.) that I won't already have being a HotD WF.

    Thanks,

    Sirgleno

warforged, and HotD paladins, are immune to energy drain effects, but not immune to insta-kill effects. Therefore, deathblock is useful when fighting things that can insta-kill you, but deathward is no better in your case than deathblock.

Not that its actually much of an issue, but deathward will protect you from other negative energy spells too, starting from the 1hp tick/per a few sec from the skeletal mages, that drain your Mantle charges otherwise ^^

On a Hunter of the Dead Paladin I recommend still having a Deathblock item

    Reason:
WF or HotD are immune to negative energy Drain

Deathward prevents Negative Energy Damage, Drain and Instant Death Effects

    Deathblock prevents Instant Death Effects.

Advantage of Deathblock vs Deathward is that deathblock is not able to be dispelled (disjunction yes dispel no)

Advantage of Deathward vs Deathblock prevents negative energy damage and does not take an item slot.

Thanks for all the input, I agree that deathblock is the way to go on a WF (especially a HotD) - guess I can leave my flesh render guards on other characters. Luckily death block will be easy to slot come U17 (not that it was ever actually hard).

There are an overabundance of yellow slots on gear, and deathblock is pretty much the only worthwhile thing to slot in yellow (aside from just treating it as colorless) under U17.

There are some infrequent but pretty nasty sources of negative damage that Death Ward will eliminate but none of [deathblock, WF, HotD] will. HotD does vaguely reference taking less damage, but 0% beats 70% (or whatever) every time.

As a paladin, of course, you can still drop the goggles off somewhere else and just cast DW yourself.
