Conjure Bolts Scrolls (will they be fixed?)

I have a repeater build that is currently using multiple quivers to hold his bolts. This is very annoying when having to switch them out during combat. I had built this character around using Conjure Bolts Scrolls so I wouldn't have to use quivers.

As of right now, the scrolls do not conjure bolts. It seems like an easy fix, so I'm just wondering if this will ever come across the devs agenda.

It wouldn't be so annoying if you could switch out quivers with a hotbar but all that does is opens them up.

I wasn't aware this was a known issue. I have a helf with the arty dil, and I noticed a week ago the scrolls don't work. I submitted a ticket, to which a GM replied that I should use a bug report for that issue. Which I did a couple days ago.

Heh. Ye, I didn't really know either. Happened to stumble upon it one day.

And if you'll notice, it's a really old thread (2008) though it gets updated every now and then. The Conjure bolts thing is an old known issue which seems fairly easy to fix but for some reason (lack of motivation I suppose?) it hasn't yet been fixed.

Ironically, if you tolerate the much lower numbers generated, flame arrow does work...

Eh, I've tried Flame Arrow wands. They're too pricey. 50 casts with 50 bolts each cast is 2500 bolts. Each wand costs almost 1.5kpp. Compared to the 20pp Conjure Bolts Scrolls that give a stack of 1000 bolts? I see it like this Flame Arrows<Quivers<Conjure Bolts Scrolls. But the gap between using quivers and using scrolls is pretty big. My pastlife, I was a 13rog/6art/1ftr. I was able to cast Conjure Bolts (2 stacks was more than enough for any quest).

I thought to myself "Hey, why not go full rogue and get maxxed SA & use the scrolls for ammo?" Would've been great, but the all mighty bugs have kept this from happenning. The maxxed SA is still nice though. No arty can dream of reaching the same repeater DPS.

At 1500pp, that's 1 2/3 platinum per bolt which is still more than 1/50th of a platinum per bolt (1000 bolts at 20 platinum). The only real utility is economy of space. over carrying standard bolts (1 space for the wand versus 25 for the equivalent in 100 bolt stacks or 1 space for the wand vs. 3 spaces for a pair of thin quivers stacked 400 standard bolt/400 +1 bolts/400 either House D metal bolts or crafted bolts and a third space with 100 bolts.)

Even this isn't an advantage once you pick up Second Tier House Deneith favor. A Large Thin Quiver with 3 stacks of 1000 each can actually carry 3000 bolts (1000 Sturdy bolts, 75% returning, 1000 standard bolts, and 1000 +1 bolts) which actually turns out to last longer--on average--than just 3000 bolts.

So, my meta-suggestion is to hit House D favor hard (if you're free to play grind favor for Sorrowdusk or buy it if premium) for the Large Thin Quivers and Sturdy bolts. Carry 2 quivers stacked 1000 Sturdy Returning/1000 standard/1000 +1 Bolts (or appropriate DR-breaking metal) and top off every couple of quests. If you get in the habit of--say--topping off your equipped quiver with returners from your spare quiver, you can keep burning the returning ones (and having most return) and still have 2K bolts in each quiver as back up or special DR breaking...

That said, I have 2 current repeater rogues, one's pure at level 19 but will TR soon as he is my last 28pt build. He uses the 2-3 large thin quiver method I mentioned and does pretty well with it.

The other is currently a Rogue 16/Artificer 2 (took Arti levels at level 2 and level 18) just so I could get repeater proficiencies early, conjure bolts, and--don't ask--shield proficiency out of it. The intent is to TR him as soon after 20 as I can get the tokens and finish a second greensteel bow, but it's been nice to not have to stock bolts...

(The second Arti level was because equipment slots were tight and I couldn't wedge both save buffing gear, trap skill gear, and a deathblock item easily. Got a Tira's Splendor rune arm, plan on getting a Lucid Dreams, and it's all good there... So 1d6 of sneak attack traded for rune arm imbues...)

I carry around 9 quivers that hold 400 bolts each all the time, so 3700 bolts (counting the one in the ammo slot). I can usually almost deplete them after a single chain which becomes pretty meh when trying to farm cuz then I have to interrupt my farming and go stock back up on bolts and go all the way back to farm. Aswell, switching bolts in the middle of fights drives me nuts.

It would be awesome to just be able to click on the Conjure Bolts scrolls in my hotbar like I was hoping for instead of having to open my inventory, run around like a dumbie trying not to get hit, click the tab my quivers are in, drag another quiver into my slot (hoping that I remembered which ones I had depleted already), close my inventory, and reload. It's painful.

You're going to want 2 slots anyway. That way you're not dealing with "Out of Ammo" in the middle of a fight.

Either way, unless/until they fix the scrolling, I was talking about the current situation and not the ideal one.

I mean, another possibility--what I did--is to splash a single level of arti. Then you only need 2 slots, one being your arrow/bolt slot and the second for a spare 1000 so you're never left standing there clicking while the "Out of Ammo" pops up.

Honestly, House D favor.

It's not as nice as conjure bolts, but having the equivalent of more than 6000 bolts in 2 slots is nice. (It's actually about 6100, assuming you put a stack of 100 sturdy bolts in the current arrow/bolt slot, but 2100 would be returning 75% of the time.)

this scroll would be really useful, and was confused and disappointed when I bought a stack of 10 only to find out that they did nothing.

it seems that this thread has been around since earlier this year; is it really that difficult to have a working scroll that generates a 1000 bolts in inventory?

Hey Graskitch, sorry that I'm just now replying to your post. I've been away for about 6 months. But to answer your question, yes. It's hard for us, the player. I highly doubt it's that big of a problem for the devs to fix. As of now, they are still not WAI.

They really should fix it ASAP!!!. Please fix it soon. I also have sent a bug report almost 9 months ago. and nothing has been done. This just an example of the many things DDO losing intrests in players.
