A guildy who is also a face-to-face gaming friend let me know I was the subject of some unflattering statements on the Defense channel due to my high post count in the guild change thread. Most likely deserved as I commented more than my fair share.

First of all I apologize if my strong feelings on the topic were over the top. Many of the people I've quested with on Sarlona are in small casual guilds so I developed some strong feelings on the topic. It seems they always get the short end of the stick to me, but my perspective may be wrong. I will do a better job of self-moderating my posts and the frequency of my posts regarding the guild subject. I made every effort to be respectful and never suggest anything that would hurt any other guilds, but I may have failed in that regard unknowingly.

Secondly there are 10 people in my guild, 9 who are active, and I am not even the leader of the guild. If you would like a list of my alts, please message me and I will be happy to send them. I just don't wish anyone in my guild to get grief over my actions. I believed what I was doing was right, but unfortunately didn't recognize that people were offended/irritated by high post count on the guild subject. Turbine asked for feedback and I already gave more than my fair share.

I changed my signature since that seems to bother some people.

I will say the defense channel has slid slightly off topic lately, but that is all good as long as people follow the golden rule and are cool to each other.

If people leave the channel because of rudeness (And i am not saying that is/was the issue here) then the channel looses its functionality.

Again not pointing fingers at the OP, but as a general guild line.

Not to keep this thread alive, I really just wanted to apologize is all.

I never said anything about guilds in the defense channel nor did I ever have any sort of uncomfortable discussion there. A friend just called me and sent a screen shot is all. If someone thinks I did they are most likely attributing what someone else said to me - because I never discussed guilds in the defense channel.

I don't have any problem with what they said - they are probably right. I always cautioned many people in the past to be careful what they put in e-mail because without tone and facial expression anything contentious could be taken the wrong way. I didn't follow my own advice.

So I have no problem with what anyone said in the defense channel at all. I am glad it was brought to my attention and if the nice folks in the defense channel are unhappy with my posts, then it's time to listen is all. I tried to be respectful, but apparantly I didn't do so well in that regard.

I didn't leave the defense channel over it nor do I have any problem with the defense channel at all. I think it's a good thing you have going.

After receiving alot of positive feedback from people about my posts I guess I just didn't consider that there were likely many more people that would prefer I stop posting about it at all.

Message received. I'm done with posting on the topic and wish I knew people felt that way earlier.

I mainly just don't want the people in my guild to get hassled because of my posts. My posts are a reflection of my views only and others in the guild likely have their own way of looking at things.

If you wish to decline I only have 2 main toons:

Slarden / Ranger
Owlander / Wizard

And a few other toons I use for farming, etc. that I play every so often and I would be happy to provide a full list if anyone wants. But when I am on it's almost always within one of these two.

Someone would have to be a REAL <insert your favourite expletive here> for me to squelch them in-game based on forum posts. If I don't like what someone is saying, I just stop reading.

I was an observer of most of the conversation in question. It was mostly hyperbole and venting, as tends to happen in any semi-private forum, the kind of off-handed remarks that people say when they don't realize the person could be watching. Don't take it too personally.

Keep in mind I missed the entire thing and have no idea what is being discussed, but people make mistakes. Sometimes we say things, or miss a cue from others that the topic isn't being well receieved. It happens, and you are clearly remosreful for any trouble you may have caused, and took a step to apologize and try to take ownership of your mistake. Life and freindships don't end over a single mistake or misunderstanding! So cheer up and just keep trying to be nice to people. Defense has mostly really awesome people in my experience with them.
