I ran with a toon named Anyfear a couple times, although now he/she is on my special list - which as often as I PUG is remarkably short. Pretty sure that this character is a 555 reincarnate (or at least cut of the same cloth). IMO character renames really erode community, since a player could be a total jerk and avoid most of the consequences just by tossing Turbine some cash.

I'm sure many of us (perhaps most!) have a 555 story or two, so say what you will about running with this guy, he did manage to achieve his likely goal of infamy.

To be infamous you only have to troll a lot, be loud and obnoxious, start drama, or consistently cause party wipes one way or another. Its a lot easier than being famous.

Take your time, have a TON of patience and plan well. Let me give you an example...

Find the name of a player that is seriously disliked across the entire server. Then stalk them incessantly. Don't message them, just make sure they exist at least twice daily.

Then wait for them to either delete their character or change their name and snap up their old toon name before anyone else can.

Now sit on the name for a year and half. Seriously, do nothing with it! Don't log in, don't play, nothing!

One day decide to make a new toon because you're bored. Join parties, solo, raid, whatever. Wait for the tells, party rejections from people who don't even know you and messages from others who say they missed you.

Join guilds only to get kicked when someone sees the name and has a hissy fit because they think you're the original player. Have a giggle when it costs them a ton of renown and decay.

Never reply to anyone and most of all, have fun.

Also note, I recently grabbed another infamous name. I have 13+ months to sit on it still before I can use it

Indeed lol. I have a guildie that can't take his constant talking so everytime I group with him I always try and invite my guildie too. Guildie is still a noob and doesn't know how to use the squelch function and I will never tell him.

I'm pretty sure that 555/sset- is now actually "Pyramiddd" with three Ds, but I don't have it in me to confirm that and interact with him.
