    Default Enhancements not affecting scroll healing

    I'm running a HELF sorc with FVS dilettante and having a lot of trouble with scroll healing. I've seen lots of folks post in the forums that they've used this build, so has anyone else had the following problems?

    First and foremost, my enhancements are not applying. I have human imp recovery I (+10%) and sorc wand and scroll mastery I (+25%). On a successful heal scroll, I get...150. Every time. Should be over 200 (150*1.25*1.1=206). When I have the guild ship healing amp buff (+10%), I get 165, so at least that is working. Nothing in known issues about this. I've filed a bug report, no response.

    Second, since lvl 10 (I'm 14 now) I've had a 45% chance to cast Heal, as I took FVS Dil II. In my last stack of 100 scrolls, about 30 worked. I was regularly taking 5-6 tries for one success. Can I really be *that* unlucky? Just how many 1's are on Turbine's d20?

    Would like to know if I'm alone on this, thanks in advance.

    Scroll is a level 11. Means 110 base. 150 is max from level 15 up. Dilly 2 only gets you to level 6 Cleric for casting purposes. Level 3 gets you to level 10 which is 90% or so success rate.

    Failed attempts need more than a stack of 100 to determine actual success rate. (Random "streaks" of bad numbers are not uncommon)

    Follow up....just noticed you took the FvS dilly. They get access to Heal at level 12. Means success rate is lower than expected.

    <facepalm> Sorry, for some reason I had in my head that Heal was a static 150 per cast (last life was a FVS, got used to that I guess). My bad, and thanks for clearing that up.

    45% is the chance that a lvl 6 FVS has to cast Heal scroll. Granted, 100 scrolls is not a fully scientific test, but since 45 percent literally means per 100, 30/100 is some pretty terrible luck. File this one along with the many references on here to ddo's weighted die

    This is how I would recommend investigating luckiness:

    rate * (1 - rate) * trials = variance
    sqrt (variance) = standard deviation
    ±1 standard deviation covers 68%, or you have a 1 in 3 chance of seeing an apparently significant result that is not
    ±2 covers 95%, or you have a 1 in 20 chance
    ±3 covers 99.7%, or you have less than a 1 in 300 chance

    In your case, our expected deviation is...

    .45 * (1 - .45) * 100 = 24.75
    sqrt (24.75) = 4.97

    Depending on how "about" 30 you were, your observation may fall outside of 3 standard deviations, which is convincing evidence. With that said, there are also Concentration checks to consider, and every rigorous investigation of DDO's dice has found that they are consistent with randomness.
