    no you are not....there is nothing in windows xp named scandisk therefor if you try to start-> run-> scandisk you get diddly as defrag is a separate program that was not addressed tho if you want me to i can point out first major flaw with that suggestion is if OP used that and didnt stop before it reached any defragging it would worsen any current fragmentation of the files or he would have to wait for it to full defrag before troubleshooting any further....and chkdsk is not old thing used in windows nt it is WHAT IS used in NT XP VISTA and 7 (idk bout 8 but most likely)

    Thanks! - just reinstalled and ran into a 201 error, the above steps worked for me too!

    chkdsk is still present in W10!
