How exactly do you use flashstones in House of Death Undone?

I tried clicking on the cauldron. Nothing happened. Put flashstone into my hotbar and tried to use it that way. Nothing happened. Someone else in the party destroyed the cauldron, but I forgot to ask him what exactly he did.

It is simply clicking on the cauldron with the flashstones in your inventory.

Putting them on the hotbar does nothing.

Maybe you weren't close enough?

Yesterday's quest ended in a wipe.

Quest scripting. The pots won't accept the stone until the quest tells it to.

Which given the scripting issues in there, you can blow up the pot before you should, so you won't get objectives completed in some cases.

And if it was the matron's pot (not going there - too easy); it is unclickable until she is dead. Same is true if you choose her daughter's thread of the quest instead.
