    Default Druid Animal Control Spells

I have a couple questions to ask, the wiki seems to dislike Druids. The information just isn't as well documented, or formatted as it is with other classes.

Wild Empathy: if you look it up on the wiki, it talks about Rangers. It seems it's similar to Turn Undead for Clerics in that they require some charisma.
Is this the same for Druids?

Why are we not able to Dismiss Charm on Wild Empathy 2? I was building up an honour guard, only to find out that I couldn't progress past barriers until all mods were dead. My party was rather understanding about the 4 minute wait, but I felt rather bad.

Why would they decide to make it un-dismissable?

Charm Animal, Dominate Animal, Fascinate Animal... Do these require charisma? If they do, then I'm not sure where a first life Druid is supposed to find the points to invest.

What can be done to increase success?

TIA for any information or suggestions.

For the feat given to charm animals i get about a 75% success rate with my druid in elites, up to level 18 or so anyway. Hadn't tried beyond that. I started with 10 base Charisma, items and ship buffs boost that to 16, though i honestly don't know if charisma does help it. All i recall of the description was Will based save of 29, didn't see a school type like with magic or a stat to boost DC.

Not tried the spells, always had better offensive ones to take, and i never noticed as many animals to use them on. Might be fun though.

I'm surprised the dismiss charm feat didn't work.. that would have to be a bug.

I have actually read that it cannot be dismissed. Maybe on the wiki. I just don't know if that was a statement of observation, or if that's WAI.

I found fascinate animal useful in the Vale spider quest (thingies, er... names always elude me).

(Improved) Wild Empathy is based on your levels as a Druid or Ranger (not both) and your Cha modifyer.

Works good at mid levels but not so good at the highest levels.

    It is not dispelable.

There are only a few places where this is a problem though. (like the first room of Lords of Dust...Grrrrr. )

Druid "spells" work all the same. DC for Druid spells are Wisdom based. Cha does not matter.
I think Druids do get the dispel charm feat, it just doesn't work on Improved Wild Empathy. Should work on Charm and Dominate Animal spells though.

Hi Talon. Yes, the first room of Servants is a notable one.
I have no ranger levels, It's just the wiki only goes into any detail about this feat/spell in reference to Rangers.

Thanks for confirming the Cha modifier for Druids.

    Is it intentionally not dispelable?

And yes, Druids do have the dispel charm feat.

I don't know if it is intentional or not.

We did not use to have the Dispel Charm feat in the game.
Rangers still do not get that feat.

    Druids are still fairly new.
Wiki has not been updated to include everything about Druids yet.

(interesting note: If you have both Rgr and Druid levels you get uses of Wild Empathy based on both of them, with different DCs. So in effect you get more uses of weaker Wild Empathy's.)

Not being able to dismiss the higher level wild empathy would have to be a bug.. i believe bards get a feat (that is considered a song) that charms enemies right? And assuming they do get that the dismiss charm would work on it, though i haven't tried it myself.

Rangers seem to be made for multi-classing.

Whether or not it's a bug, it's a pain in the butt. Here I am playing pied piper, building an army for crittergeddon and I'm stopped, the whole party is stopped for a potential 5 mins.

When a spell/feat functions in a way that makes other players demand you not use it... well, I don't know what needs to be done, but something does.
