This reminds me of one time running a quest on my FvS, I was healing the group as we went along but one guy in particular (ranger) was a major mana sponge i had run low on SP and the ranger in the group linked a stack of 30 mana pots then told me that he would sell them to me for 2k pp each I didn't say a word, just recalled and droped the group, 3 min later the leader sent me a tell saying that they all recalled and dropped him and asked if i would come back to the group

My first indication that he doesn't know how to play sorc sensibly was the fact he has GH as a spell in the first place... As WruntJunior already stated, buffs are tight on a sorc... If he only had GH scrolls, I could consider him not dishing it out if his supplies were limited. But this wasn't the case...

As a matter of fact, look in the OP's sig. You'll find a link to a post about how he's a divine who posts BYOH LFMs. Search that thread for my name. All 51 pages of it. You won't find it. So who's obsessed with what?

    I didn't start this thread.

OP is not only a BYOHer. OP is not only a cleric who posts BYOH LFMs. OP is not only a cleric who posts BYOH LFMs and writes a mantra about it on the forums. OP is a cleric who posts BYOH LFMs and writes a mantra about it on the forums and puts a link to that mantra in his sig. Who's obsessed?

I merely pointed out the hypocrisy of the OP posting yet another thread crying about those mean little gimp newbies that hold him down and squeeze heal juice out of him without his consent. The OP isn't some new cleric on his first trip around the block that had his first run in with someone that wasn't super polite and had to come here to the forums to see feel out the community as to where it stands on the issue. The OP is a card carrying member of the BYOH club because of all his many previous experiences with mean, bad, and ungrateful players.

If the OP doesn't want to heal people, he certainly knows by now that no one can make him. Therefore, any heal he throws he does so completely of his own volition. So to come here crying about how he went out of his way to heal some ungrateful noob is entirely unnecessary at best.

I can understand if some extraordinary event takes place then you might want to come to the forums and vent a little, but this is a case of he didn't get a GH buff from a sorc. Is that really something to go running off to the forums crying foul about?

Did you even read the original post?

Did you read the post linked in my signature?

When my cleric posts BYOH LFM's, I am hoping the people who join will make some type of effort to heal themselves, but I will still heal them when they need it. Anyone who has an issue with that is simply wrong, because it means that they refuse to carry pots, wands, or scrolls and believe that the party's cleric is responsible for 100% of their red bar at all times.

This was not a BYOH group. I didn't refuse to heal anyone. The sorcerer had GH but refused to give it to me because he wanted to use his mana for offensive spellcasting. This occurred after I had given him Deathward and several dozen heals. I treated him with civility and hopefully that player will adjust his way of thinking in the future.

What possible issue could you have with this? That I'm a player who sometimes puts "BYOH" in my LFM's (even though I didn't in this instance)?

I know you're trying to rail against BYOH but in truth you actually wrote the opposite of that and is correct, the OP is indeed NOT "only a BYOHer". It's quite obvious that you skipped right over the OP, straight to the signature and the rant above leads me to believe you already knew what his signature contained when you clicked on the thread. It's also quite obvious that you have issues defining the word "when". Seriously, Dude, your rabid obsession is making you lose sense and it's not helping your cause in any way.

Acid fog? Circle of death? I don't know. But surely it can be used for something else other than what can be used on a scroll. Ok, maybe I worded that sentence horribly, sorry.

I call the influence of modern culture, where society pushes the idea of using others resources on ourselves and not using our own constantly. They have now come up with a car registry, where you register your dream car and get other people to go to web site to pay for it, and you get the car once its 100% funded. While Im sure you can put money on it too, NOWHERE in the ad is that ever discussed or suggested, the ad focuses on getting your family members to pay for your car. And then we are continually surprised when people display this sort of behavior in games and our social circles.

okay sorry for sniping at you, I prefer loadin GH as I don't need to spend money on acrolls, it is more difficult to dispell mine, mine lasts longer (I honestly hate the 11 minute duration), I would load acid fog, but I tend to just acid rain+ice storm for AoE damage, and for circle of death I honestly rarely instakill........I find just nuking to be more SP efficient (although if I am instakilling I tend to neg lvl and then FOD since that is better for my play style, and I use wail of the banshee basically for neg lvls and occasional kills lol).

But I can see why people don't load GH since there are some very good 6th lvl spells.

My rabid obsession? My cause? Who are you? Am I supposed to know you from somewhere? Oh, I totally know the OP from other threads, but I'm sorry I just don't remember you at all from anything. That's a good thing though, in my opinion, because the reason I remember most people I remember from the forums isn't because of their insightful reflections on the state of the game.

It is an interest to me. When you have somone ask why people don't pug, or why there are so many BYOH parties, they can thank the dummy that the OP had to deal with.

You can be an enabler all you like and hug the ones that do not want to help themselves, but I am sick of them. They are a cancer on this game and I have no time for them.

Are you aware you are not required to read all the posts on the forums?

If you encounter a post that holds no interest for you, are you aware you don't have to keep reading it? And you certainly are not required to comment on it?

I have no idea how you came to the conclusion that this post is about BYOH, or where you got your (completely wrong) definition of BYOH, but it is certainly easy to see why some people are characterizing yours as a rabid obsession.

A level 16 sorcerer joined me after a few minutes and asked if I would mind recalling so he could run with me, as he was new, didn't know his way around, and would probably need healing. I said "no problem" and recalled and then we both stepped back in. He asked if he could have a Deathward and I gave it to him, no problem.

As we were running around I had my aura going, but he kept getting so far away that he would ask for a heal, which I kept giving him. I told him several times that if he stood closer he probably wouldn't need a heal because he'd be in my aura, but he ignored me. I also told him that if he could refrain from tossing a spell at each cluster of mobs until I jumped into the middle of them, he'd have less of them running after him all the time and would therefore need less heals. He said that's the way he plays.

I usually carry a stack of Heroism pots and use them quite liberally. After tossing the sorc a couple of dozen heals, I asked him if he had Greater Heroism, thinking he could give it to me and I could stop chugging pots every five minutes. He said he does have it, but when I asked for it he said he prefers to focus on offensive spellcasting rather than buffs.

I actually stopped and asked if he was serious. He said he was.

I was tempted to tell him that, while it was apparent he needed me for healing, I didn't need him, the feeble scorching rays he kept tossing at the fire giants, or his lousy aggro management. I was also tempted to recall, boot him, and re-enter without a word.

Instead, I (politely) pointed out that I was using my SP for healing him, and buffing him, and it was hardly unreasonable for me to ask for a GH in return. He asked if I "really needed" the GH and I said I don't "need" it, but it is handy to have. Finally, he gave it to me, but was clearly not very happy about it.

I have no idea if this person "stoned" his way to 16 or not, but it certainly is not out of the realm of possibility. He started off politely enough, but clearly didn't like any suggestions at all on my part, even when it limited to simply asking if he could stay close enough to be healed by my aura. The first time I asked him that, he responded with something like, "Why? You can't heal me from there?"

Okay... I just wanted to vent a bit.
Well, as far as the last paragraph goes, your "partner" probably didn't understand what a healing aura was.

But yeah, the lack of either brains, or the sense of common decency is a big problem these days.

Its called expectational irony. He asked for buffs and you provided them, and when you asked for buffs, he denied you with the excuse that his mana had a more important use. The expectation after you buffed him is that he would reciprocate, and instead he fed you some lame excuse...

This semi recent barrage of people posting and demonstrating in game that they wont heal and buff is another contributor to why the more experienced players end up reining it in and playing in guild / channel groups and letting the PUG scene fend for itself. The PUG scene then deteriorates in quality, and any attempt by good experienced players to re-enter the PUG scene results in running into more of the same asinine behavior.

Its an interesting symptom of a much larger issue in the current PUG scene, inflicted on the rest of the player base by those who think a group is defined as 2-6 people soloing the same quest instance.
