A boring personal story;
Over a year ago, tired of this mindlessly boring mmo, I ended my subscription with DDO and moved on to more "out-doorish" activities. Like many of those who have left this game, my heart just wasn't into it anymore. Too much grinding, too many short-cuts, and hand-holding by Turbine to draw in new accounts. I was finished.
Then about a month ago, the topic of DDO popped up in a conversation, and my wife expressed some interest in trying it out. Never playing any sort of MMO before, I couldn't wait to see how she reacted to this game. I figured she would play it once or twice, and then delete it from the computer as fast as possible, but she loves it.
Watching her struggle to learn how to swim, cross bridges, and find her way around different instances has brought a lot of laughter, and memories of my early noobery back in the Goodblades days. Watching her learn all of the "ins" and "outs", and struggle to stay alive in quests has renewed my love for thie game. Now, I just hope that it lasts long enough for me to get some more TRs completed.
See yall in game
