Default Can't mouse hover and see details

This is extremely annoying and it just started happening today. I can't see ANY details of anything when I mouse hover over it. That includes items on my hotbars (I have to click on the item and equip it- then view the details by pushing the assigned button to do so), items in my inventory, anything on the auction house, items from vendors, anything related to crafting, and can't see the party make up in the LFMs.

I didn't have this problem last night but upon logging in today it is here and annoying as hell. Yes I restarted my client, twice. Thanks for any help.

I noticed this as well. Those hotbars that have key mappings would show details; the others would not. It appeared to be either location or display specific. When I opened a bank dialog they started working. When I was standing in the Marketplace, no deal. On the airship, fine. It is highly perplexing. I have discovered no solution. Sorry.

It is a tool tip timer. It has a sliding bar.

    A few things.
    * Anything that could cause your mouse to twitch, like a hair with the sensor can do remove the window as fast as it pops up.
    * Other programs doing DX calls can make it have issues. (Ron's Planner did it to me before. I don't know if it still will or not.
    * There have been bugs on occasion relating to resolution size of game and Windows. I forget the order, but one solution was to change your Windows screen size, but don't select Ok, just let it time out to go back to what it was, then try again. You may have to kill your userpreferance file.

Thanks, but still no dice. I did all of the above, Moved the sliding bar all the way right and nothing in LFM pannel or hotbars, and all the way left... nada.
    *Fiddled with the mouse sensitivity
    *Character planner is not open.
*Messed with both windows resolution and in game resolution... zilch.

Not being able to see LFMs might be my most frustrating aspect at this time cuz there is no way to view the party or who is in it at all. ARGGGG

This bug has happened to me for over 2 or 3 years now. I think it's something inherent with how the game interacts with windows or something. (i.e. if you move the hotbar that is not allowing you to mouse over to another part of the screen, it might start letting you do it. no idea why these "dead zones" on the screen appear)

Interesting. Do you think if he tells the UI to reset to default, it could remove such dead areas?

Oh wait, you are talking transparent (chat)windows, or accidentally overlaying one UI element on top of another just too much aren't you?

Do you play mouselook style or not?

I do not. I hold my left mouse down to look.

So you do play mouselook then? wasd + mouse or some combo there in?

I'm nearly a strict keyboard player in this game, that is why I ask. It can make a difference.

Which attack are you using? "attack" (which is the standard) "attack/interact" or "attack (UI Mouseover)"

I'm using "attack" for button one, and "E" for my "attack (UI Mouseover)" button (I told you, I'm a near strict keyboard player.)

In regards to the OP's issue with apparently EVERYTHING failing to display mouse over details, I have nothing of value to add. I am sorry.

I too have found similar results in trial and error with my own issues. It seems at times an invisible section of certain ui elements can overlay visible elements. While to the user, you can see no logical reason for this, a computer considers an element solid regardless of transparency. A great example is ingredient bags. If you place your ingredient bag in the right place, near your inventory, you will be incapable of moving items into the inventory from that bag, although the user would see no reason why the item would not drag and drop. UI elements CAN take up more area than the images you are interacting with. I assume the loss of scroll wheel zoom is also a part of this issue. If something else, invisible, is taking precedence as active window then you really aren't zooming in or out, and you really aren't hovering over your items. I believe it is plausible that some element of a UI screen gets stuck open despite the graphical interface vanishing, or that custom layouts can place invisible sections of constant UI features over parts of the UI that you will need to interact with.

Good luck, but you may have to accept your issues as just another feature of DDO and its awesome quality control.

I have learned due to the issues I've fought with them about that, it is a Turbine Engine issue, which is a different development team from the DDO team. DDO developers won't be allowed to fix it.

    My experience is thus:

I will move my mouse over to let's say the hotbar I have along the right edge of the screen, to look at my current or alternate armors to check something in it's description. Instead of showing up with a tooltip, the icon will slightly shimmer like as if it is trying to show the mouseover info but is being closed instantly. If I grab that hotbar and move it to another part of the screen it will allow the mouseover tooltip to show up. However, at other times, the tooltip on that hotbar WILL work in it's original position. Maybe certain UI elements (bags, inventory, what-have-you) have some kind of residual presence even after being closed. I dunno :/

It is an engine issue; for a temporary fix, open up a red or green bag and mouse over an item inside for a couple seconds and the tooltips elsewhere will return.

Looks like the problem resolved on its own. No idea what caused it or if what I did before work fixed it... But it wasn't an immediate fix if so. But man it was a very annoying bug!!

I hate mentioning workarounds, because it means the bug will never get fixed; but another way I work around this is to highlight any item on my character sheet, hit "z" for the examine window, toggle it again, and that also usually allows the mouseovers to work again.
