I don't buy the inaccessibility argument in the slightest.

2 spelltouched shurikens dropped under my name just while farming up enough ingredients for a level 16 cloak. A guildie had at least 3; I think 4 drop under his name before he finished his level 24 cloak.

Even if you are spectacularly unlucky while farming a cloak, or don't want a cloak, the one-off cost from the vendor isn't too bad, since you don't (or shouldn't) care what mods are on them.

Throwing a shuriken for any reason but the spelltouched property, on any enemy that isn't at least orange named, is, to my mind, an extremely questionable decision.

EDIT: Hahaha okay, "Challenge Closure" makes them legitimately inaccessible at the moment.

Some people want a legitimate damage option, not cute flavor stuff or random shenanigans.

No! Don't tell anyone about Spelltouched!! My thrower build loves his Honed Spelltouched Throwing Axe but no one else should have one!

While we are at it, FoS, any chance getting Archer's Focus to work for thrown weapons? Please.

Interesting... some D&D material online has this to say about "spelltouched feats":

In this variant, a character who has been the target of a spell sometimes finds that some of its magic rubs off on him or her permanently, leaving an echo of the original spell. A character who has alter self cast on her many times, for example, may develop the spell-like ability to alter her features into the specific form she's most familiar with. Beneficial spells can linger on a character like magic radiation, bestowing an advantage somehow related to the original spell. In contrast, some PCs have a homeopathic reaction to hostile spells; by suffering the effects of a spell, they develop a countermeasure to it.
So perhaps a spelltouched item (or its bearer) gains a particular quality (like additional damage effects) based either on spells cast at the wielder and/or spells cast by the wielder?

    Feather,

Since you've chosen not to receive PMs, I sent a message to you via Tolero on 1/20/2013. Did you get it?

I ask because Tolero hasn't posted since 1/17/2013 so I was afraid she's either no longer with Turbine or she's been on a long vacation.

    Thanks.

Pretty sure this means he does not care, at all, what message you would be giving. I can't even imagine what that inbox would have looked like after epic boots were spoiled...

Apparently, I have communicated with Feather indirectly before so I have good reason to believe you may well be wrong.

Also add in that the ingredients are BTC while the Challenges have a low demand for melees and a high demand for casters, so I'm sure there are many people who have ingredient rich casters and maybe healers and ingredient poor melees. Especially if they are pugging the challenges.

We've been waiting for Eveningstar challenges to not be..
    1. borked on the returns
    2. have all trade items BtC status

The events are NOT setup for reasonable average player solo ability, let alone random loot for trade only serves to tick off players.

It is well known from sources not to be named on these forums what spelltouched does.

you saying spell plauge isnt this:
Every hit: Either a random 1d6 hp damage type or stat damage type
1-2% proc: Any rare Shroud damage proc type
Can additionally proc a huge variety of effects, at a low rate
Granted, it seems varied compared to my own usages, as I've never seen a shroud proc on mine, even at a low 1% chance I would've seen a few of them by now and yet I havent seen any, unless by some unlucky chance I'm only rolling a corrosive salt proc on the shroud list constantly and my shuriken already has that. so, no its not double rainbow, would be cool if it was but no luck.

However I've seen a chance for 1 random stat damage, along with 1d10 alignment/elemental dmg.
and a wide variety of debuffs such as curse, shaken, exhausted, armor destruction, crippling, disintergration, paralyzation, enervation, improved shattermantle. other then these I havent seen anything special about it, although it is nice to have hidden effects like that. If this isnt it then I havent a clue, do we need to use it with something or at a certain place?

    Hi,

The impression I'm getting here is that these weapons are another vanity project.

I'd like to suggest less time on things like this, potions of wonder (a great tool for the griefer, and readily available in large amounts now), BTC crafting materials, challenge weapons with random properties and other mechanisms designed to increase grind, grotesquely drawn-out upgrade processes for raid loot, and fewer pony references.

If you do want some suggestions about how the game could be substantially improved, there are many useful ideas here on these forums and in the other place. Make an enduring and useful contribution to the game and people will like you, no matter how snarky you continue to be with them.

    Thanks.

So you're saying that you've made a new loot item whose effect is so secret and occurs so rarely and is so difficult/random to acquire that no one has noticed it or cares that it exists, months and months after it appeared? Excellent job. Dev manhours well spent.
