Question for a human Paladin

Hello,

I'm new on this game and I created a human paladin.
I'd like to know if "taking" a religion is usefull or not and if someone could explain me the system for prestiges classes ?

Following one of the Faith lines is highly recommended. You cannot take a tier III Prestige Class if you don't have one of these. For humans, you can only pick between Silver Flame and Sovereign Host. Among the two, Sovereign Host tends to be the more popular of the two. It allows you to take Unyielding Sovereignty to qualify for tier III, and is generally more useful than the Silver Flame one.

Prestige Classes are implemented in the Enhancement System. As with other enhancements, there are certain pre-requisites before you can take them. They become available at 6/12/18 (for Tier I/II/III respectively). To find out more about what you need to do, check out the Wiki or go to your Enhancement tab/Trainer and hit "Show Unavailable." Mousing over each enhancement should show you what you need to take to qualify.

The most important thing to know is that the enhancement system is very easy and cheap to reset and start over from scratch. Just go with what feels right for now, unless you are following a documented build, and before you hit cap you'll just reset it half a dozen times till you finally get what you really want.

It is much much much more costly to try to respec feats or skills. For enhancements, trial and error = a-ok.
