Thread: YourDDO Update

    Default YourDDO Update

YourDDO is going to be down for approximately the next hour. I apologize for any inconvenience it may cause. I am going to be fielding an upgrade to, well, everything... I'll post here when it's back up and running...

YourDDO is back up and running. However, the Crafting pages will remain down temporarily. Their updates weren't very cooperative so I'll need to give them a little extra TLC before opening them back up.

What this update accomplished was what's called SEO. The basic framework of the site hasn't changed, but the way that the URL is displayed has. Of special note is the Character Stats pages. If you have links currently in your signatures or elsewhere that you use to quickly reference your characters, please update them. The old links will continue to work for the foreseeable future, but the new links are just so dang good looking.

The reason that the crafting pages are suddenly borked is their url's were supposed to look something like this:

    Code:
    ddocrafting.info/greensteel/gs/<item>/t1/<tier_1_upgrade>/t2/<tier_2_upgrade>/t2b/<tier_2_bonus>/t3/<tier_3_upgrade/t3b/<tier_3_bonus>/
NOTE: if no bonus is intended, the bonus would not show up in the URL

That was you would be able to have perma-links to your item builds rather than having to save to a text file or print (save the trees!). But neither the Greensteel nor the ToD ring planners liked the new code (works fine on my test server!)... So, for the next couple days they will remain down while I investigate the problem.

    _____________________________________

UPDATE: The Tower of Despair Ring upgrade reference is once again live with all of the appropriate upgrades. You will now be able to copy the URL to wherever to reference exactly what you were looking at.

However, sadly, the Greensteel planner will remain down for the time being. I have discovered a bug within the core of the app. I am totally bringing it down because I don't want anyone to accidentally craft something incorrectly. The issue is not with the recipes. The issue is that when planning items with the same focus in 2 or 3 of the tiers, the bonuses would not properly show up for Tier 2 and you will be unable to select any option for your Tier 3. This issue roots down into the core of the app and is going to need some TLC.

Don't worry, I'll have it back up and running in no time!

Hm... I cannot get it to work in Firefox (18.0.1) any longer for character lookups; it doesn't fill in any figures... leaves everything blank on the char sheet. IE still works ok.

I'm not sure what your motivation is for all the work you put into this. I'm guessing you don't make any money off this. But I want to give you a huge +1 for this website. It is a great alternative to MYDDO which can hardly be trusted.

Is there a sign in, or a registration available for YourDDO? I see that you appear to have contests periodically. How does one participate in such contests?

I applaud your efforts with your site, and GREATLY look forward to an alternative to MyDDO's broken lottery entry screen.

This is the usual culprit. Everytime I make some sort of structural change to the site, this happens to some users. Even though I explicitly tell browsers not to cache anything, for some reason Firefox never wants to listen. Just clear out your browser cache and everything should be fine. If you do this and it still doesn't work, send me a PM or an email using the email in the footer of YourDDO with your current browser build, your operating system type (Windows 7/8, iOS, Linux, mobile platform, etc.) and I'll do some investigating. Oh, also the character(s) name and server(s).

There is currently not a sign in or registration for YourDDO. I have thought about creating some sort of newsletter that people could sign up for, or some sort of guestbook function. But i just never got around to starting the coding for anything of the sort.

There are a few features that i have dabbled with that would require a login, but those are features that would be purely optional. For instance, saving various Greensteel/Ring setups for quick recall or have a favorites bar setup for the future addition of maps so you can quickly pull up your favorites. But I am currently looking into doing all of that without the need of a login.

Also, if you want the most up to date info on contests and other YourDDO happenings, you can follow/friend any or all of YourDDO's social stuffz. The links are in my sig.

And I want to stress that the Lotto Entry bypass is something that I am still experimenting with. I still have no conclusive data to prove that my theory will in fact work or not.

You are correct in assuming that i don't get paid for this. I have just always enjoyed coding for a hobby, and I also happen to enjoy playing DDO as a hobby. So one day I decided to combine the two. I have toyed with the idea of tossing an ad or two on the site, but the ads just detracted from the overall appearance of the site.

Hey... at least this product's developer communicates with us. There are some other products that have had a REALLY hard time with communication lately.

I definitely do my best to stay in touch with the community. Aside from here on the forums, you can usually find me hanging out (sometimes just parked) in the DDO and the DDOWiki IRC channels.

I figure the best way to get good feedback and insight from the community is to talk to the community.

    Hey buddy... this link:

    http://ddocrafting.info/index.php?p=guildList

    Gives me this error:

System Error. Please Contact System Administrator.

I have the link bookmarked so maybe it is an error on my end, but since you just did some site maint... I figured I'd mention it.

Hmmm... Clicking any of the links in the menu will take you to the appropriate section of the site. I will make a note of this on the System Error message. You may need to update your link, but give me a few minutes to see if I can fix the routing from old link to new page. Thanks, T.

EDIT: Fixed. There is no need to update your old bookmark(s). But I still recommend doing so.

Quick little note. Apparently my hosting company decided to take down the server that I'm on for maintenance, so YourDDO is currently down. They estimate approximately 1 hour until the server is brought back up. I am officially going to be moving YourDDO to a new hosting company. Anyone recommend any good ones? I've been with these guys now for almost 5 years, so I'm a bit out of the loop on hosting providers.

EDIT: YourDDO is FINALLY back up. Stupid hosting provider.........
