Launcher dose not start the game

I start the DDO launcher and it connects to everything fine. I put in my password, I see all the servers are up and I join one. The launcher says it connecting but closes and dose nothing. I have not gotten an error message and anything and I have turned off my firewall. I worked just fine on Tuesday and I have not changed anything. I have reinstalled but it still has the same problem. Dose anyone know what I can do to fix it?

Same trouble for me. The Launcher runs and after no server access !! 2 days !

i have the same issue....put in username and password....connect to thelanis....launcher dissaperars from screen and no DDO....uninstalled and reinstalled DDO to see if that was the problem...no difference....

I have the same issue and it sounds like it started at the same time.

Launcher takes UserID and Password... Looks like it is going to start with a black screen then it shuts down.

Reloaded DDO and no luck.

Same story here on DX 11 and did reinstall of both DDO and that. Any ideas thanks

Same problem here. It happened a few days ago then went away. Now its happening again.

I'm having the same problem; though I sometimes make to the character selection screen before it crashes.

I have been tring to play ddo since sunday 1-27-13. played it earlier that day then took a break. went back to play loaded everything just fine and looked like it was going to connect to the server was all black on a mini screen then nothing game stoped. re installed 2 times since then re started my comp from factory ( thought i had a viris or something) re down loading game again and goin to see what happens. if n e one can help plz lol btw running windows 7 with the direct 11 thing dont know how to use the direct 9 or what ever it is always played b 4 for me so i am not sure what to do .

Same trouble here.

Completely reinstalled DDO and it worked for one day. Now the issue is back.

I log in fine on my old machine.

Anyone have any luck with addressing the Firewall? I manually added all four Turbine exe files to both my Windows and security suite lists, but no help there.

Did we all just have a Catalyst update? Could that have something to do with it?

Edit: reading Turbine's list of common launcher errors and behaviors is depressing. Good game, but just too many bugs now.

I actually put links in the other threads back to here since this seems like the appropriate forum. And if anybody finds a solution hopefully we can share it here.

The odd thing is reinstalling fixed it temporarily for me. Also I'm logging in fine on an older computer (which isn't powerful enough to run the game and actually play). That machine is running DX9. I was wondering if it might be a DX11 issue, but you don't seem to be able to change from DX11 to DX 10 without logging in first, so no way to test that idea.

Updated yesterday myself. Crashed hard several times. Rolled back to 12.10 and now everything is fine again.

Deleting your userprefernce.ini should allow dx9.

Baring that, this will force you into DX9 if you aren't on XP.

Find dndclient.exe
Right click then go to properties.
Go to the Compatibility Tab.
And Tick the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Windows XP (Service Pack 3) - For Windows 7
Windows XP (Service Pack 2) - For Windows Vista (iirc)

Found the problem Comcast has a double firewall they keep tring to get me to pay more for their in house constant gaurd.

When it popped again I found it was blocking the programs not the Norton which is part of the comcast basic price. :|

I don't add them, myself. I only delete. This way when it attempts to get back in, it auto asks.
I delete from both my "block" and from my "accept" lists. If you only added it to your accept list, but it was in your block list, chances may be it is still blocking. So you may want to double check all of your lists to be safe. Not that the firewall IS the reason for your issues. We don't know yet.

The Constant Guard firewall had DNDclient.exe blocked. Hit the allow button and it's Marilith lock up your daughters, I'm back in town.

1) open the Constant Guard protection suite (may be in the 'hidden icons' of the taskbar)
2) > options
3) > manage my blocked program rules (under Additional Options)
4) enter PIN
5) find the Turbine exe, > allow
