    Default Update 17: Event #1 - Experience

Hello! Update 17 brings many things to Lamannia, including a Character wipe. After the Character wipe, I'm sure some of you need experience and gear to prepare for Epic Gianthold!

I will be waiting for you in the Marketplace near Cydonie (your friendly Gianthold NPC contact) on the following day and time to hand out Heroic/Epic Experience and random loot!

    Thursday, January 17th from 6pm to 8pm

    All times are Eastern (GMT-5)

    Smiles,
    Squeak

Any chance you could add level appropriate equipment packs to the Lama store instead in future?

Something like 'Level 22 Wizard kit, Epic Normal Ready' or 'Level 24 Wizard kit, Epic Elite Ready' that has a sensibly thought out gearset of named items. Other sets might include 'level 22 TWF melee', 'level 24 sword and board defensive melee' etc.

You won't get a setup perfect for every build, but it will be a lot better than making lots of random lootgen items that are of very little merit to high level characters.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

while your at it can you add some actual difficulty or is this aimed at the casual playerbase only , between loot and quest difficulty i don't know where to begin , make us overtwinked elitists have something to do !!!!

Yeah sorry for the harshness , I was just hoping for quests that the most elite would have a really hard time with ,

Is the quest diff scaled down atm . Elite feels like a current epic hard to epic normal !

And please tinker with some of the loot .

And what is up with the The fall of truth ?

I don't understand why this was seen as an opportunity for everyone to make suggestions.. there are more appropriate avenues for that. He's simply offering XP.. Either show up and get it or don't..

Dumping random loot only encourages people to try quests in extremely bad gear, which then distorts feedback.

Average difficulty quests seem very hard if you are a Wizard with totally inappropriate equipment. By giving XP and bad gear it undermines Lamannia's purpose of testing the play experience of new quests.

That, and it'd be a good notion for another couple of reasons:

1- Gives us a decent idea of what type of gear devs are targeting folks to have when they run the stuff vs what we may have.

2- Shortens the amount of time to get going and get testing for folks that might be hesitant to pop into the new stuff (though why on earth they'd be on lam if so is a question for it's own thread).

Right.. but there are a few things here.
First and probably most importantly.. if you want to make a suggestion why not start a brand new thread so it doesn't get lost and also doesn't diverge from the topic.

Second and entirely my fault, I was mostly aiming that at the complaining about the state of the game.

Third and kinda one of those things, is when you test you have to test to the lowest common denominator. I'm not saying run a horribly gimped build with class and level inappropriate gear or anything of that nature. More that it would make sense for them to hand out what a player who has not farmed out the best twink gear and spent hours upon hours crafting, grinding, what have you.. would be equipped with. The old style epics are what drove me away from this game, and that is after having farmed out full green steel, madstone, titan's grip, etc etc etc.. The fact of the matter was they had not tested with gear that was mediocre. I don't know what they actually DID test with but those difficulty levels were grueling and not particularly fun.
TL-DR : They need to test with all ranges of gear or we end up with 6 hour Chains of Flame runs.

I agree with your suggestion, but also think that there is value to testing with the suboptimal gear.

EDIT: For clarity, I have been back and playing heavily for a while now and gotten my main back up to epic levels after TRing. I'm not inactive.

    This was a blast!
It was a little weird going back and forth from the leveling guy and most of the stuff was endgame (which is fine since that's the content being tested).. but I ended up with a half-equipped 21 Ranger who started the day as a level 7.

My guy that was already epic level however, loaded up to the teet with ESOS, +5 tomes, and all kinds of other goodies!

EDIT: I just realized that the experience guy is still in Harbor.. BWAHAHAHAHA

Was fun watching the posse following Squeak.... again thanks - now lets rock out some testing!

Is the 'Treasure Room' still around? I wasn't able to attend this event last night but luckily the xp npc is in the harbour still so I've been trying to get a character ready for tonights event... but I need gear, all my good stuff is in a TR cache that didn't copy over to lammania. The Guide tells me to go to a treasure room to find gear but I can't find it.

I wish I had known the XP guy would be there for a while, I was busy with that and ended up missing some of the specifics I had hoped for.

That being said, my archer is a blast to play and I am considering TRing him into a Bard to try another idea I have. Having the XP guy there permenantly would help so much.
