I suck at teaching or leading quests. my short term memory has seen better days.

I was talking with a friend about a match.com program for mmo's and he was like "make it krimmy!" then a day later I saw someone already did, ES online is preparing a system like that. cool beans.

But I do most of my group questing with guildies now. Pugs tend to get mixed types regardless of the LFM and I'd prefer a group be able to set the tone in the beginning. If guildies are not available I solo.
Yea. I think I agreed with that in the other post. Farm some quests because it's too good not to. zerg through a few on norm after doing hard leet runs.
It's always a mix. I'm my own worst enemy atm because of my decreasing and erratic playtime. so when I'm on I peep at the LFM's and keep it moving. Kinda weird but I rarely see people taking advantage of the streak bonus lately in LFM's. That scares me off some too. The streak is one of those things that are worth the effort and elite is soloable under most circumstances until 15ish or so. I wonder how much of your total xp it accounts for by level 15.

You start to speed up your play as your game knowledge expands. Then you find what you really like (epics, TRing, zerging for fun, just making alts) and keep doing it.....or you leave the game.

Have fun. It's a game. Find your happy place and go crazy.

Look up Brendael (level 11 Cleric) or Brendann (level 9 arti) in-game. I'm more than happy to take the scenic route since this is the first time I'm running through most content.

I often play with guildies and friends who are of like mind. When we do a quest we like to do the optionals and always try for the ransack bonus. We like xp and loot too, but I don't find it rules me, nor do I let it rule any party I lead. It's harder in a PUG to find people who will play like you, but sometimes gems appear! The best thing is remembering to have fun, and then we won't get stressed about getting the good stuff on the way, it will just happen!
I've not played all of the MMORPGs- it only seems like it- but every single one has reached a point where the "destination" trumps the "journey"....that the "endgame" becomes the sole reason why players continue to play the game.

In DDO, we've seen very little the last few updates that was aimed at anything except post-20 play. True, you could access Eveningstar below level 20, but I don't know of much content you can play in once there that isn't Epic. Stones of Experience sped up the trip to 20. The EDs were aimed totally at 20+. And Epic Gianthold is on the horizon. As games mature, the focus shifts to providing a challenge for the hardcore player base and making the journey for new players, whom the devs hope will become parts of that hardcore player base, as speedy as possible to endgame. It's much easier to simply follow the herd and zerg your way to 20 in the shortest amoung of time possible than it is to recapture the wonders that being a totally new player to DDO were. I consider myself a pretty casual player, but even I roll my eyes when contemplating taking yet another character through the terrible early to mid teens, when content choices are few and you've run it to death. You've just got to fight the urge to join the zergers to whatever extent you want to resist.

i agree with what you say

i only get to play a little every day after the kids go to sleep and i have to be able to leave the game if my wife or kids call

i do almost every quests except the most boring ones 2-3 times (never done a pit)

it took me about 6-8 month to lvl my second life TR

I thoroughly enjoy taking my time in quests. If we're barging into those dungeons like bullies, I definitely want to sate my bloodlust in the process! I am one of those people who refuses to leave Under the Big Top until I successfully hit every high striker bell, because "Who can resist?". lol I think a lot of people take this game too seriously. We should all just take our time, and enjoy ourselves.

    Default well

    just my 2 cents:

i zerg only quests i know at 75% or better (and my memory do a good work at lowering said % to zero)

i like to skip optionals when i dont want to do them, or i am not into the mood about learning something new

sometimes i just do all optionals for the sake of it, and keep playing inside the quest even after all people in my party recalled and quit (talking about the 3 optionals of partycrasher here the demon, the theatre, the pig hologram)

with this chaotic mindset i like to call me: a FLOWER ZERGER !

    :P

i thought so...why make another thread? instead of complaining about it why not make a channel for casual players and offer the information to those who are interested?[/QUOTE

Been there wrote that I guess.

Maybe your right but I didn't think I was complaining as much as making an observation.
channels kinda suck. I keep 2 open only. guild and party so I'd not be able to take advantage of a channel.
way too many UI's going on in DDO for my little screen.
someone mentioned permadeath before but it doesn't appeal to me.
how about something different... maybe a club.
Would be cool if we could belong to a club in addition to a guild. I'd keep a chat channel open for that.
You can set your guild or party window to also accept channel messages, which is what I do. Even the chattier ones don't seem to overwhelm, so it's worth considering.

At least that's what it seems to me. But I'm probably on burnout mode.
I do know finding someone to run with that's experienced, capable and not concerned with xp per minute seems impossible. I wonder what ever happened to dungeon crawlers.
People just enter quests to be done with them asap and get stuff/xp then move on.
I saw one of my own guildies ripping into someone from guild chat for no other reason than the guy wanted to kill everything.
It was like that was the most terrible thing he could have done. To dare to spend extra time in the quest hacking, slashing and exploring.
I've been going it mainly alone for nearly a year now. I don't even know what to do about it. Maybe I should start a guild for people like myself. If there's one out there already I never heard of it.
I dunno. DDO is getting old for me anyway. Really looking forward to Elder Scrolls online.
That's probably what I need. A change of scenery.
Me and my group of friends from work are what i would consider casual power gamers, we just don't care about stuff like xp/min,deaths,re-entry but we do our elite streak every TR get all the good favor, don't repeat quests 10 times...

I consider myself lucky right now but when these guys eventually quit i might find myself in the same position as you.

Then you'd drop connect to chat

We're out here, we just solo or static group (club, as you said). Not my place to tell others not to zerg, thus I run at my pace. My problem is less XP per minute (albeit sometimes I am in a hurry to finish that last %whatever threshold I'm verging on%) as it is that I am retentive about ransack, kills, observance, etc.

I _know_ xp/min is more efficient, but I'm that guy who will move the word processor cursor to delete JUST those letters that are wrong in a misspelling vs. deleting the whole word and retyping using 4 less keystrokes - those other letters were perfectly good letters and didn't need to be "wasted"

It's the natural evolution of mmo players in play here. I started out wanting to do everything in a quest, every time. I had a great time exploring and looking at things. I did it all. I wasn't in a hurry. I probably sniffed every flower twice. But that was three years ago. I wondered then why so many people were in a hurry all the time to get it done, and now I understand becuase it had been 3 to 4 years for them already at that point. I can't even count the amount of times I've done the quests anymore. I have turned into the okay let's zerg through this and get through lots of quests beause that is fun to me now, but I can stop and sniff flowers with new players and remember to take enjoyment in watching them start the journey. As long as they are entertaining to be in a party with, good personalities and fun and laughter is being had.

After a certain amount of time, you've sniffed it all. And the fun isn't there anymore, and it has shifted to other places. For some it's earning more plat than they can hold, others it's getting the ultimate gear set up, and others it's developing our toons through tr's and ed's. Some players have lost sight of what it used to be like when we were new and exploring, and it can get ugly when the playstyles clash like you spoke of with your guildie. But there is room for all of us, and there are a LOT of people on every server ever day (excpet maybe Wayfinder), and that means there is always a chance of meeting new, good players who fit your playstyle.

And your post is a good reminder that we should use a bit more tact and empathy when we meet people outside our playstyle/game experience levels, whichever side of it we fall on.

I was surprised to learn that xp pots last for a certain amount of time rather than a certain amount of xp.
